  1. I mean, if you're NJ, you start the conversation with Stolarz, right? I mean, as Fitzgerald, you're maybe willing to walk back off that, but that's where the talks start, yes?

I don't know where that goes if the Leafs are willing to listen to that idea, but that's immediately where my mind goes. We all know how badly the Devils need a goalie right now.

  2. There’s no way you trade Hilderby for anything less. If it’s just about cap compliance, the Leafs should be asking for a third-round pick and Hamilton. Remember, we gave up a first-round pick just to move Marlor.

  3. How about Hamilton and a first for nothing. A pure dump. Thats what weve done. Marleau was the same……hello!!!!! I cant believe u guys didnt mention it,

  4. Dougie is playing very well since the scratch. I love his game tbh.

The point of trading him, from the perspective of NJ, is to give them room to bring in forward help.

I honestly think something like Hamilton for Domi would be a starting point for both teams cap wise.

Luke to LTIR doesn’t help because the dev’s ownership won’t spend money, btw

That being said, even though Dougie is from the area, i highly doubt he would ever want to play in Toronto because of the attention he would get.

San Jose would have been really nice but I think he wants to be in an east coast city.

  5. Devils fan, I don't think it will come down to getting a goaltender back. We have Daws and Malek who are already not able to be called up and we just prematurely extended Markstrom 2 more years after this one and have Allen signed for five. We also have Yegorov playing in NCAA. I think this could be as easy as Dougie Hamilton for someone like a Nicholas Robertson and a low draft pick (5th or 6th) along with Mermis if there's an issue with Leafs having too many defensemen under contract. Or maybe Maccelli or McMann instead of Robertson. Devils need help up front. Dougie's been playing well since he was scratched though and since Luke might be out for the season, Fitz may be hesitant to move Dougie

  6. This is typical leafy self destruction. Trading Benoit or Myers or any above value low cap hit is just trading to trade or trade for a big name as per usual it never works out. Also trading Rielly for Hamilton is not improving the team it’s just a name change with an extra $2 mil cap hit. I don’t like the defence coach as the d-core looks confused at times. I am also concerned that they might trade a goalie and this Leaf team needs to carry 3 goalies into the playoffs 🤞
If Tre F’s this up trading a goalie and or trading just to trade and or trading for a name this should be his last year as the leafs GM.
Sidenote: any other defense coach than what the Leafs have will greatly improve the d-core

  7. You keep Hildeby, he's the youngest and hasn't had many serious yewr to year injuries in a season, if you are moving on from a goalie it's Stolarz or Woll.
As for Benoit for Hamilton. Fitzgerald instantly would hang up the phone lol and deal him elsewhere they could get more from another team for sure like a real cup contending team with a late 1st round draft pick if anything and that's only if the Devils were that desperate lol

  8. God I hope not. I made a similar comment on the main podcast video, but I feel like this is such a hypocritical and out of context take from Adam. You can not assume a player like Hamilton will rebound with a new system, especially one that focuses on defense much more then keefes system. Players like Hamilton are bets, you can get them for fairly cheep, and you see if they can pay out for you. However, you usually take bets to fill holes in your lineup, where if they fail, its not really hurting you, but if they work out, its great. Maccelli and Joshua are bets by the leafs, low-ish cap hits on maybe players. Maccelli seems like a failed bet, although his performance recently has been showing that its maybe not as much of a failing as we previously thought. While Joshua seemd like it was working great before he got injured. Point is, these are bets that the leafs could reasonably make. They wanted a hard forechecking power/two way forward, and a playmaker, so they got them for relatively cheap (they got macceli for a 3rd and joshua for a 4th). Hamilton while the payment for him could be as low as like they said, benoit and a 4th, does not fufill any of the other requirements for this type of bet. His cap hit is way to high, to the point where if he fails, they have a whole new problem of how tf are they signing all their expiring contracts (robertson, mcmann, laughton, macceli, stecher). If your taking on an additional 9 mil for multiple years then your losing at least one of those guys, probably multiple, and when Robertson and Mcmann are both having career years, this is not the time to be using the money you could offer them on a maybe. The second problem is hes just a bad maybe. Legitimately, idk why Adam and Steve think Hamilton will add anything to this team, but reduced Riellys offensive minutes and maximizing his defensive minutes, which I guess could be seen as a goal by Adam anyways. Hes not useful at 5v5, at all. He has just 10 even strength points this season, on a high flying team like New Jersey if he was at all useful at breakouts or starting plays he should have at least twice that. The only thing he adds to this team would be a shot from the point on the powerplay, and arguably he wouldn't even be the best at it. So if you get Hamilton, hes playing pp2 more then likely, OEL has twice his points this season, and while he has less pp points, he's also been on a dogshit pp for most season. So on pp2 who would you rather have take a shot from the point, Dougie Hamilton, or Robertson? idk about you but id probably say Robertson. Given that he is literally never left unblocked on the pp by defenders, I'd say they agree. Hamilton would not be the best shot on pp2, and his 5v5 numbers make Morgan Rielly look like a saint. Speaking of which, why does Adam hate Rielly so much? You dislike him because of his terrible defensive play and his inability to shoot on the point. Ok, fair enough. But getting Hamilton only solves the 2nd one of those, which as of lately, doesn't seem to be a problem, cause even through your hatred of him being on PP1, the PP has been scoring a lot more lately, and part of it is due to him being on it. If your getting Hamilton, you need to babysit his minutes, meaning the other defensemen are going to take more defensive assignments, just so the offensive ones can be reserved for Dougie. What might this remind us of? Oh yeah all your problems with Morgan Rielly. So your gonna get a even bigger contract for mccabe to babysit, and cause Riellys game to suffer further by drowning him in defensive assignments. Overall this whole idea of Hamilton is just completely incompatiable with the leafs current system and players. I don't love Rielly, but getting another, worse Rielly, just so you can make the current Rielly's game worse seems like a horrible idea, especially because, like I said, Hamiltons a gamble. This whole thing with him taking over pp2 and having him get all the offensive minutes is the potential upside. The downside? Hamilton is just as useless as he is right now in Jersey, and now your stradled with that cap to complain about for the next two years. God I hope he does not come to Toronto, unless its more then just him coming, and its a larger player change as a whole.

  9. I like hildaby alot high hopes but i like pekka and the other kid too so if we pitch beniot and hildaby and a second rounder with like 2 mill retained or something id do the deal

  10. Dougie is a good defensemen who cried to his agent after a healthy scratch. I don't think they need to move him until the offseasn with how he's playing since the scratch

  11. BT and Berube have spent too much time going after big guys who can't move the puck just like Burke and Nonis did. It's dumb and doesn't work. We desperately need puck movement on the blueline and guys that can do more than look mean but get stuck in their own end chasing the puck since they never have it and are too slow.
