Trade Chatty or Walker before Nikishin
100% agree that both sides of a trade need to be considered.
For the last couple years, there's been a call for getting a strong 2nd line center, but exactly who that should be, and at what price that it doesn't hurt the Canes, is strangely absent from the equation;
"Well we need a strong 2C, and Jackson Blake is really young and having a great season…. I've got it! Let's trade him for a star center!"
If only sports trading were so easy
they better not trade Nikishin. Insane if he was even offered. Hopefully it was a request denied. I don't care who its for I wouldn't trade Nikishin. We have plenty of other assets. You get rid of Nadeau and Nystrom and worst case Stankoven though I would try to avoid that too. Future picks, at this point do what Vegas does. If two 1st and Nadeau isn't enough to acquire a player like Hughes than just get Trochek or Stamkos or even Petterson who will be mush easier to acquire in trade.
Quinn Hughes doesn't change anything , Show me a cup winner who ran their offense through a slight built offensive defenseman (go ahead ill wait ) . Even Chicago decades ago who ran a ton of offense through Chelios who was bigger and an infinitely better defender than Hughes got dismantled by the Pens and never won anything .
