Literally the worst call I’ve ever covered on this channel

We need to talk about this insane phantom call on Lane Hutson as we recap the Montreal Canadiens vs the Minnesota Wild. All that and more on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. The angle the ref had must have made it look like Hutson interfered with Foligno. It happens, but maybe refs should be instructed not to "assume." Only call it if you actually SEE it.

  2. Playoff bound? In the atlantic? I would not be so sure. You just need to lose a couple games and everything change. The next couple of games for the Canadiens will for sure test them. 2x Buffalo, Boston, Vegas and Colorado. The next weeks is going to be hard

  3. In French we say « s’enfarger dans les fleurs du tapis », basically to « trip over the carpet’s flowers »… that’s pretty much what happened with that Wild player and the blue line… awful call by the refs

  4. It didn't cost them the game.
It didn't cost them a playoff game.
Honestly, this is an over reaction.

  5. Caufield showing again why TEAM USA made the right choice keeping him off the roster and going with someone who will only play a handful of games before the Olympics coming off an injury 🙂

  6. Worst call I've ever seen was a No Goal for the Wings about 15 years ago, I think against the Stars. Wings shoot the puck into the net. Goalie doesn't touch it. Not a net scrum. Ref claims Intent to Blow and waves it off. On a regular old shot past the goalie into the net.

  7. blame betman. Make this shit reviewable. Video REF. WE HAVE VIDEO COACHES. THAT SHITS OBVIOUSLY NOT A PENALTY. FUCK SAKES. STOP FUCKING UP HIGH STICKING.

  8. You have to wonder if the zebras in the NHL are going to be as horrible as the zebras in the NFL moving forward. It sure looks that way and you have to wonder if it's on purpose or not.

Who was the Minnesota goalie last night? He let in some s*** goals. Can't win a cup that way.

  9. I think to restrict outside interference they can't take a penalty call back just because the in-house camera team showed it in an infiniloop on the jumbotron. If another ref/linesman or ,god forbid, the'victim' says "Dude, you got it all wrong" they are probably allowed to take the penalty back as they often do ("there was no penalty on the play" although the arm was up).

  10. Mistakes like that should be reviewed. If the league wants to keep gambling out of hockey…. independent review up in the press box. We have the technology…why not increase credibility instead of diminishing it.

  11. Foligno should be ashamed of himself for that fakery, although it does help bring to life the age old topic of bad NHL reffing. But who cares ? The NHL doesn't even rank our satisfaction, neither do the refs. They couldn't care less. It's all about profit. The less scutiny, the better. Thats why the NHL bought out all the media and sports reporters and has them all under contract. Independent sports journalism died under Betmmans watch. The paid shills on TV cant even mention CTE. Nor would they want to becasue they would get fired. Thank you youtubers for having the nuts to pick up the intentional informational blackout induced by the NHL.

  12. Officiating has been terrible all year, I'm just glad Hutson and Caufield got to show up Bill Guerin.

  13. I didn't think that anything could beat the penalty gally got for someone highsticking themselves but this one is insane. Especially considering Hutson took a phantom hooking call in the third, too

  14. Yes, they are human. Yes, it’s a fast game. Totally get that and agree. Why the fuck did they call tripping though?! It makes no sense and just point to a reactionary call because a player was on the ice.

  15. If we can review an offsides can and overturn goals when literally no one can tell if the player is actually offsides, we should be able to review crap like this

  16. I usually get mad at bad calls but this one just made me laugh out loud, like wtf was that !?

  17. You should have seen the one a couple of weeks ago, a Blackhawks player high-sticked his teammate and the Blues were called for it.

  18. The nhl problem is that it seems reffererees or linemans can't discuss a penalty after it has been called like in football where a "flag" can be picked up after discussion? I

  19. This is typical for today's refs.4 guys on the ice and what, they all saw the same offence(not)? So retract the call and get it right, like they do on replays.

  20. You mean the Leats are not a sure win, TSN even said so just last week that the Leafs easily are a top 5 team in the East. Everyone except Tampa Bay I believe in the Atlantic, they have been better then according to TSN. lmao

  21. They should put a rule in where you can challenge a penalty call at least one per game per team for moments like this. Habs were up 3-2, that blown call could have easily cost them the game.

  22. NHL refs are NOTORIOUS for calling things they THINK they see instead of calling things they ACTUALLY see. And the ref at center ice is all but useless as they rarely make calls and when they do, they are often trash calls. Not sure why the league can't fix these ding dongs.

  23. Hard to completely blame the ref on that one, his angle prevents him from seeing how far Hutson is from the player. He just happens to be at the absolute worst angle to make that penalty call. Any other angle would have allowed him to see what happened. I suppose you can blame him for being at the wrong angle but that’s mostly a tough break.

  24. Let’s not forget in the third period Hutson getting one for tripping and the replay showed he didn’t trip the player and during the pp Matheson got a tripping penalty for a very marginal call . The nhl is corrupt plain and simple and that corruption will never allow a Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup
