The Lightning, Avs in the last game and the Knights are 3 examples of why trading for Sherwood is just insanity. He would not have won the sharks those games. Trading 2 2nd rounders for an injured Sherwood when the sharks have never shown they have a realistic chance to win the cup this season is insanity. The only team who should give that much for Sherwood should ASSUME they can win the cup right now. The problem the vast majority of teams who trade for a rental players to win a cup with them will lose that trade. It is at least 90% of them. The sharks are not even at the level they should lie to themselves and think they that good.
Now sure there is teams who trade for rentals and retrade them for more before the deadline passes but nothing implies this is going to be one of those. I hope that is what this is.
If the sharks get Sherwood to sign a new contract I would much rather they offered him that in free agency and kept both those picks.
