When I heard Devon Towes got traded I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO because I love the islanders and he’s one of my favourite players…
But then once I heard it was to Colorado I was so relieved he at least was traded to a team I love in Colorado!
Canucks should sign Duclair & Athanasiou. Would give them a 45 goal jump next season.

Those Vancouver second lines on both forward and defense looking real ugly. They need better guys on that 2nd line forward group along with Horvat at least.

As an Av fan, Im very happy with both trades we made. Going in, I wanted Taylor Hall, or Petrangelo. (though I knew he was very unlikely to sign with Colorado) But Im glad Sakic didn't listen to me,& made these trades instead. Besides, Sakic did make a run at Hall, but it sounds like all that "winning Cups will be my 1st consideration," was just talk from Hall. Nothing against Buffalo-I think they could be decent next year. But no way winning is his #1 priority, when he chose Buffalo over Colorado-over 1.5 million dollars. None of us know the future, but even the biggest Sabre fan can't possibly think Hall has a better chance to win a Cup in Buffalo, than Colorado NEXT YEAR! On paper,& where we sit today,thats not even close. Buffalo has the longest playoff drought. But I hold no ill will toward Hall, everybody has to do what they think is best for them. But it is kinda ironic how he was going on about taking a shorter deal, to sign with a contender. He shouldve just said "Im gonna sign where its best for me,& my family. And a lot will go into my decision." And left it at that. It looks disingenuous, when you sign with a team that's had nothing but problems, with true contenders trying to sign you, for slightly less money, after you told everybody who'd listen-winning was the most important thing. But Im happy with what Sakic has done.
I did have to comment on Tyson Barie going to Edmonton,& what in the hell they are doing? I love Barie, good player,& even better human being. He was 1 of my favorite Avs. But he's not exactly a defensive defenseman. Which is fine, hes very good offensively. I dont know what happened in Toronto, but I know how good he was here. But I think the last thing Edmonton needs is another guy,whos very good offensively,& pretty bad defensively..even disinterested at times. The Oilers already have a near full roster of guys like that-including Draisatl-the MVP,& even the alleged best player on earth-Mc David. Barie is kinda the defenseman version of those guys. Unbelievable offensive talents,but not good at defense,& often seems like they barely care about that end of the ice. I think they need people who'll actually care defensively, & maybe have some ability on that end. Im no defensive hockey expert, but I do know a disinterested, 1 dimensional hockey team when I see it. And thats Edmonton to a tee-more than any other team. They are exciting, explosive,& incredible offensively-but might be 1 of the worst playoff teams, Ive ever seen defensively. And often it seems to be effort. I think Barie puts out pretty good effort most the time-but he's just not very good-or even adequate defensively. Kinda like a modern day Sandish Ozolinsh. There is a place for guys like that,& you can win big. But you have to have the right type of players to cover up for them defensively. In other words-the exact opposite of the Edmonton Disney on Ice-Ice capades. They will be amazing to watch, Draisatl, & McDavid will put up ungodly stats-as will Barie. 1 of those 2 will probably win the Hart…& theyll get beat down early in the playoffs again. I guess their goal is to win every game 5-4? Unless they signed some other people I dont know about. I dont care how they do in the regular season. They will not win big in the playoffs, til Drasaitl,& McDavid start caring about both ends,& Edmonton gets some players who are good defensively. Nobody expects those 2 to win the Selke. Mckinnon used to be a pretty disinterested defender also. He's far from an elite defender now, but he's adequate-which took some decent improvement. I just don't get what Edmonton is trying to do? Are you trying to build a true contender, or win regular season awards (Harts,etc),& set regular season scoring records? I don't think I'd be very happy, if I was an Edmonton fan. But maybe Im missing something here. It just seems very obvious.

Literally the only beef I have with Benning is Stecher. He treated him with no respect and stech was destined to be our hometown hero if we won the cup with him. Benning made up for but doesnt mean it didnt hurt to see him leave
Benning shit the bed this off season and it will cost the franchise 3 more seasons without playoffs. Then all the contracts end
U can't compare the moves Calgary or Edmonton made compared to Benning. Benning did nothing. He let Stetcher, Markstrom n Taney go for nothing. Calgary n Edmonton made improvements to their teams and will both make the playoffs because of their off season moves. Vancouver won't make the playoffs again until Horvats contract is over.
