On Sherwood's unchosen way out the door he had some AMAZING things to say about the city, about the fans, etc. On Hughes's manufactured way out, he skipped out on his own teammates without saying goodbye, let alone talking to the media before he left. This was by his own design. So, I FULLY understand why many are feeling a little miffed by Hughes. However, with all that said, he was incredible for our team when he was here… the team was not composed well enough to give him a chance to win here. It just wasn't. There was drama in the locker room, there were highly paid players that couldn't perform, there was weird comments by management and strange selfish choices from ownership… and a CLOSE eye from a Canadian media and fanbase… I mean, is he not fully accurate when he says he's getting set up with grade A chances much more on the Wild? He might not even stay in Minnesota, too… but certainly the team is FAR more of a contender than Vancouver is, basically unable to win a game in months without him. I don't begrudge him wanting to win, even if it means playing for a different team. He isn't from Vancouver, he's not even Canadian. Yes, I would have liked him even more if he stayed, but he's still a record-breaking amazing player that was SO fun to watch for the years we had him and I'll always treasure those memories and wear my #43 jersey with pride.

I'm not crazy about my team sucking for the next ten years, with a bunch of new guys. At least, now, they suck intentionally. Management dug themselves into a hole with strange decisions, like the OEL buyout, petey contract, horvat trade, miller trade.
Hughes is in his prime, and he doesn't deserve to be held back like that. He doesn't have to extend in MIN. Maybe he will play with his brothers. Luke would need to change his number, though. 😉

Quinn Heughs was a horrible captain. His legacy will sit along side that of Mark Messier as one of the best players in the NHL but he shittiest Captains of all time.
