Vancouver needs to regain decent amount for EP40. His contract is over his value. Ideally if his AAV is down to 10M per year ish, it is more digestible.
Panarin might want to play in Florida. And we already have a similar type in Patrick Kane.
EP40 at a good cap hit or Robert Thomas is a better fit.
Panarin is redundant with PKane, especially he might want a big deal (last big deal).
Pettersson all day, Panarin no. Obviously depending on contract. Not really ready to give up prospects but I dunno
Why can’t the stream include audio clips from other sources?
I'd pull the trigger on Pettersson. I know his play has been below his standard and everyone's expectations the last two seasons, but his ceiling is still so high and he's only 27 years old. Him and Larkin down the middle gives us one of the top center duos for the next 4+ years. Put him, Raymond, and a gritty goal scorer together (can be JVR for now) and I think it could be electric (Cat, Larkin and Kane can be the other top six line).
Here is what I would propose to Vancouver:
DETROIT RECEIVES: Pettersson
VANCOUVER RECEIVES: Danielson, Plante, Compher/Copp (would be nice for us to shed one of their salaries if we're acquiring another center), Two 1st Round Picks… but Vancouver also needs to eat $2.6M – $3M of his cap (bringing it down to $8.6M – $9M for the Red Wings)
What I like about this move for Vancouver is they shed his salary and gain a ton of future assets for a needed rebuild.
I know some might feel we'd be giving up too much for a guy who is a slight gamble, but why this trade works for Detroit is that it advances us to "contend for a cup" mode while not giving up key young players already helping this team win. A core of Larkin (29), Pettersson (27), DeBrincat (28), Raymond (23), Seider (24), Edvinsson (22) with young contributors like Kasper (21), Finnie (20), ASP (20) and more on their way (MBN (20), Buchelnikov (22), Leksands (21), Buium (22), Bear (19), Cossa (23), Augustine (20)) I'd really like the make up of this team for the next 5+ seasons. Plus keep Kaner here for as long as he wants to keep playing!
Sometime you can't be too conservative and need to be bold. Trading for Pettersson would be bold and likely spark Stanley Cup desires for this team moving forward.
No and No especially if we have to give up way too much plus all the drama with Petterson was stupid. I would look at a top 4 defenseman instead if anyone is available
HELL NO ON PANARIN!!! Detroit does NOT need him at his level of contract, and furthermore what we would pay for a mere rental would knee cap the Red wings for YEARS! What the Wings need is a second pair D-man! What I WOULD prefer is to go after Winnipeg's Dylan Samberg. Samberg is a LD, age 26, 6'4'', 216-lb, from Saginaw MI, legitimate second pair D-man, making $5.75 Million for the next three years. I would offer Winnipeg a 2027 second, and prospects Antti Tuomisto (RD) plus either Will Murphy (LD) or Brady Cleveland (LD).
