actually, not a surprise move, If we don't resign him and Sasson, both will leave as a UFA in the end of the season.
Resign both of them cheap means we can trade both as early as next season.
Glad he is being given a chance in the NHL.
I expect this is a sign and trade situation (whether soon or in the off season)
What are you going to get for him? a 3rd rounder at best, probably a 4th, borderline 5th? You pray that a 3rd rounder turns into a karlsson in what, 5-6 years? It's a 2 year contract, if he doesn't pan out, he signs a league minimum or walks. The upside of keeping him far outweighs the return we'd get right now. 2.25 is slightly more than I thought he'd get, but it's reasonable for a team that isn't going to have cap issues in the lifetime of this contract. I figured he'd get 1.75/2
Or if he puts up 40 points in each season, which he should hit at his current pace, he's already 24pts in 36 games, then it is well worth the contract, anything more would be bonus

He represents the eventual return we got back from the Alex burrows Trade .. this means a lot to fans who were around back then.
The last 2 Managements were actually patient enough to not trade him and let him develop , yes he is a late bloomer but this guy now has so much more to offer and is still fairly young to see the rebuild through ,, and let’s face it .. this is not a full rebuild .
..It’s Like your digging around ,just trying to find any Canucks content you can muster up without you actually thinking it through .
This only guarantees that he Gets traded within 6 months
Watch his minutes, he has not has many minutes until last few games. Whenever he plays more he also produces more. He has the best point per minute played in the team, love this guy. So happy he finally got a well deserved contract.
But if they believed in him sooner he would have done almost as well, but scraping 4-5 minutes each game is not the way to unlock you potential.
