The Canucks have had a miserable season, but at least the team is admitting the need for a rebuild…. mostly.

  1. I don't trust our management group to guide us properly through a rebuild, we've never been good at developing draft picks. I can also see it next year, just like you said….the team will show signs of improvement and they will abandon the rebuild completely for a chance to make the playoffs. I never thought I'd miss the days when Jim Benning was in charge

  2. With all th guys who haven No Movement Clauses.

My question isn't how can you move them.

Its If any of them REALLY want to go at all.

Demko and Garland have recently said they still love the city and don't want to leave. I would not be surprised some of them refuse to move and their loyalty bites us in a sense.

  3. When the Canucks tied Dallas with 4 goals in the last minute and won in OT, that was the heart and soul, the magic that was. Their comebacks were outstanding. This management team kept sticking the dagger into the locker room until the blade broke. The player rifts were exacerbated by front office comments. Manny Malhotra should've been coach. What a drag for fans who pay $200 for a nosebleed seat, and the rest of us who suffer endlessly.

  4. While I lived in Vancouver, 1997-98 has been the benchmark for the lowest point … And we're basically at that level … Ouch!
Hiring John Tortorella in 2013-2014 was the start of a long trajectory of mediocrity & the Canucks being unable to compete at an elite level for a sustainable amount of time. Torts is part of a LONG list of mistakes from ownership. The "Lost Decade" looks like it will continues for NHL fans living in Vancouver. (sigh)

  5. I’m really hoping for that 1st overall pick this season and I’m not asking them to be a cup contender next season at all but I’m hoping to see a big improvement. I’d also like to give Petey another winger like mckenna or stenburg so we can see if he can really live up to his contract. If not I think that’s when they should move on from him if they can

  6. Vancouver fans, you have 16 wins with 34 games remaining.
As bad as it gets this year, remember the 2019-20 Red Wings won only 17 games.
Not only will that not be your fate, you also can take solace in the fact that you can't fall three spots in the draft lottery this year, like we did after that most dismal of seasons.

  7. I love this tank, but they should get some win once in a while otherwise there will be a losing culture. Look how long it took Sabres to get it together….

  8. I knew Demko was going to be injury-prone after they rushed him back for Round 1 versus the Predators. Canucks could have given Demko to Edmonton for a decent deal and maybe watched Demko win a cup. Instead we got Evander Kane and gave up a draft pick for the "privilege". Just Benning level asset management.

  9. Guys the point of tanking is to trade out players and then suck. Not necessarily do the sucking first

  10. This is all an ownership/management problem. They have an owner who interferes; they have a head office which loves gimmicks. Do these non-hockey types like to "go with their gut" and it guts the team?
The bigger problem is that they do not seem to know what real on-ice talent looks like. If they have some talent in the roster they seem to squander it; maybe even ruin it. If they have money they overpay the wrong players, and yet act stingy with the right ones. Plus 1st round draft picks, cripes. This team has not picked in the single digits since 2018 and that was Quinn Hughes (most recent of the major talent the team narrative has been about in the past decade) . Since then the Canucks have either had shitty 1st round picks that are mid or worse or no first rounders at all. They acquire picks from trades like the Miller one, then immediately fob them off for questionable acquisitions. When I watch these THG updates from around the league, what always gets my goat is hearing how well players that the Canucks traded away have worked out great for other teams.
The Canucks are really making the case that the Whitecaps are now truly BC's #1 sports team.

  11. Several other videos have said it first but I’ll repeat:
Karma is a b*tch and the organization is paying the price for how they treated Bruce Boudreau.

  12. I can imagine Ottawa kicking tires on Lankinen and shipping out Merilainen/Sogaard to Vancouver. Not sure how Ottawa pulls it off with the salary cap being so tight but desperate times call for desperate trades

  13. Been a fan of the Canucks my whole life, wasn’t old enough to remember the 2010 run but all I ever remember about this team is sadness, and this year has to be the worst

  14. Nobody is used to Detroit being above the playoff line since even the Hockey Guy forgot lol

  15. Wooooof, I’m optimistic about the future. We’ve got tickets to 5 Canucks games between now and the end of the year… wouldn’t mind seeing ONE win 😬
