San Jose Sharks Put Nick Leddy on Waivers—Does a Major MOVE Loom Ahead?

San Jose Sharks shake up their blue line by placing Nick Leddy on waivers—signal of a seismic shift or simply roster gymnastics for Vincent Desharnais’ return? JD Young examines what Leddy’s move means for the Sharks’ future, whether teams like the Vancouver Canucks or Calgary Flames might pounce, and how trade possibilities or cap strategies could reshape the roster ahead of the deadline.

The conversation turns to Michael Misa’s ramped-up role and what more minutes could unleash for the Sharks’ offense. Special teams come under the microscope as both the power play and penalty kill sputter, with questions swirling about personnel changes, the struggles of key units, and whether prospects like Will Smith or Oliver Bonk can spark a turnaround. Get insights on lineup changes, breakout player storylines, and the moves that could define San Jose’s path through the playoff push.

  1. Regenda, Misa, Chernyshov sounds like a great line. I’m excited to see those guys work together.

  2. Roster decisions are weird rn…There’s, what, 16 forwards ( including IR and AHL) and 8 dmen? Ostapchuk and chernyshov are waivers exempt but regenda isn’t. So who do you rotate in and out and send down etc? Good problem but awkward problem

  3. Guess Grier told Leddy this was coming, gave him a couple games to get some positive stuff on tape (the assist to Graf looked pretty good) and made the move. Grier's probably asked Leddy about places he'd like to go before this, made the calls — and got no offers.
