  1. That is a lot to give up. I like Anderson but that’s an overpay. I see teams like Detroit who have a lot more young assets. Doing the smart thing and not give up picks and youth to that extent.

  2. If they make this trade will they be better two-three years from now? They won’t win the cup this year or next (realistically)

  3. It's over, sent to Vegas for Whitecloud, rights to a prospect, a first, and a second that converts into a 2028 first if Vegas wins the Cup. No extension in place yet.

  4. Swayman, the Lindholms, Zacha, McAvoy, Zadorov, Pasta, Geekie & Minten are their core

All of those players except Zacha (who'll they'll re-sign) are on long term deals with NTCs

Lohrei, Jokiharju & now Aspirot are all on longer term deals as well

Today, they already have 11 forwards & 6 d-men signed for next year & there's at least some chance that James Hagans & or Frederic Brunet could fill those two roster spots

They also have 4 upcoming first rounders

In terms of just RHD, they really only have McAvoy, Peeke & Jokiharju on the right side

Peeke may get moved or just not resigned & Jokiharju stinks

    Their left side?

They have too many guys with Zadorov, Hampus, Lohrei, Aspirot, Harris & Kolyachonok in Boston

Every one of their defensive prospects are also left shot guys in Brunet, Edward, Groenwold, Pettersson & Blanar

So without question some of their LHD prospects, an LHD on their roster & or a draft pick (s) will be moved for an RHD at some point

Sweeney also isn't a draft & develop long term kind of GM

Instead, he's an add to an existing core that's tied up long term, win now, kind of GM

    Either way…

Whether it's Rasmus Andersson or not & it's not now as he's been traded to Vegas

    Whether it's in-season or off-season trades…

Don Sweeney will be trading more picks, prospects & roster players

    Also, let's be honest…

Don Sweeney & this organization have also proven in spades since he took over as GM in 2015 that drafting & developing long term hasn't been their methodology or desire

    And when they have drafted

There have either been far too many misses or they've developed players poorly

To date, Don Sweeney has also made 65 draft picks in 10 years as GM

Only 3 of those 65 draft picks play in Boston today

Lohrei, McAvoy & Swayman, that's it

Some of that can be attributed to trading some draft picks to win now or to fix UFA mistakes

However, a lot of it has been tied to simply bad drafting & developing

In a decade of drafting since 2015 Don Sweeney has drafted a combined 37 forwards or d-men in rounds 3-7

The NHL games played leader at forward drafted from the 3rd-7th round by Don Sweeney?

    Jacob Lauko

A 4th line throwaway & his 83 games for Boston

    At defense?

Frederic Brunet & his ONE lousy NHL game last season

So in a decade of drafting, across 37 forward & or d-men draft picks in the 3rd-7th rounds

Sweeney's total haul at forward & defense from those rounds?

One game out of Brunet and Lauko

A 4th line throwaway that's no longer in Boston

Yet, Sweeney & their pro scouting department have done an above average job of identifying & trading for established NHL players that fit their team, organization, locker room & system

Again, it should come as zero surprise to any Bruins fan paying attention to Don Sweeney & the Bruins since 2015

-They want to win every year

-They will do everything in their power to stay that course & only a disaster like last year has & will ever deter them

They have shown no stomach not just for a longer term rebuild but even for a shorter term re-tool that may only mean taking a step back for two or three years

Again, Bruins fans. I'd expect more picks, prospects & roster players to be traded in order to win now

Any notion that they'll trade any of their key core guys, start stock piling draft picks & prospects & then start suddenly giving all of these young guys long development curves in Boston

While Sweeney & Seabass just sit around not making the playoffs for a few years

While their current core also ages out in the process

All of that is just ludicrous

    Again, it's not Rasmus now

But in-season or in the off-season…

Expect trades with the goal of winning now

And forget about this nirvana where Don Sweeney starts hording draft picks & switches over to being the drafting & development GM that builds young teams from the ground up

That utopia will never come to fruition as long as Don Sweeney remains the GM of the Boston Bruins

    Whether that's a good or a bad thing…

I'll leave that up to you to decide
