Verhaeghe got a MINOR penalty for boarding Zub – Tough Call Recommendation

Carter Verhaeghe was let off the hook for boarding yet again. He drove Artem Zub face first into the boards with a crosscheck to the back and only got a minor penalty.

  1. I’m convinced that tough call would just suspend the whole panthers team the whole year.

Also that is not a critique just being facetious. Though we do disagree on philosophy of how the games should be called by the refs. He is one of the few people I find to be the closest to objective as one can be.

As for this one definitely should have been a 5 minute though idk about suspension.

  2. Panthers fan, thank GOD Zub was alright because what the actual fuck. No idea what Carter was doing, definitely should’ve been a 5. That was a bad one. Don’t think it’s suspension worthy (was called and seemed more reckless than malicious) but that was REALLY dumb.

  3. 2 minute minor. Getting sick of people over-exaggerating this. It’s a contact sport. If you can’t handle it, go elsewhere.

  4. i agree – the league should be held accountable. if they disagree, let them explain

  5. CH fans here i watched like 5 minutes of that game and i was able to see Florida cross check a sens player in the face without getting a penalty. Papa Campbell's phone is busy these days they are not even pretending anymore.

  6. How many times has Verhaeghe done this kind of stuff?? Many times now…and I've never seen him suspended for it. It's just plain disgusting.

  7. the FLORIDA DIVERS get away too often with suspensions. its a nhl problem. some teams have the superbonus play dirty as long as they get away with it without any costs. i would like to have a statistic that shows blue / red states. that would be interesting, if there are preferences, or if only selected teams get speciel tratment.

  8. Let's face it — the level of officiating is piss-poor. These guys constantly get calls like this wrong — often when we can see at least two of them with clear views of the incident. And then the DOPS compounds things by being even less consistent and providing zero "safety" for the players. The system is fundamentally broken because the officials have zero accountability. And no transparency. When they make these terrible calls that are so obviously wrong, why is nobody forced to stand before the press and explain it? Why is there no transparent punishment for the bad performances of the refs? It happened again in the Laughten incident a few days before.

  9. According to the Department of Panther Safety, that is clearly only a minor penalty, if anything. 🙃

  10. When you examine the Connor Clifton major for boarding in the third period of the Lightning-Penguins game in progress (Jan. 13), would you please also explain why Tampa Bay got only 34 seconds of PP time instead of three minutes? (Boarding major minus instigator minor equals three minutes.)
