  1. Meh, it is talk like this that led us to draft Jake Virtannen and Julolevi, tbh. Canucks drafting has been pretty bad. Tell me I’m wrong. I think we should just be scouring the junior and minors for tough, desperate players willing to battle and fight every friggen night. Sure, we’ll lose most games, but tell me that’s worse than the crap we fans are seeing!!

  2. I want 1st round prospects and a 1st round pick for Sherwood: Kane = bag of hockey socks but get his cap hit and his lazy ass off the Canucks

  3. Harvey took over in 2020. They didn't graduate anyone from the first 2 drafts. 2022 was the first draft that yielded anything useful; DPetey and, hopefully, Lekkerimaki. 2023 brought Willander. 2024 isn't looking promising and I guess we'll have to see how Cootes does. Medvedev is regressing this year but here's hoping he can improve going forward.

Overall, I'm not impressed with their results in the 5 years they've been running things. No forwards sticking and producing in the NHL and a couple defensemen that have shown some signs over 5 drafts.

No excuses this year as they'll be picking high and should have multiple kicks at the can.

  4. WTF!! Why are you meeting in the states? Nowhere in Canada that has adequate facilities!! Last time I checked, Vancouver was a Canadian team. Support your own country.

  5. Fire this guy. Its business as usual!?! We are last in the league with almost no talent. Our drafting has been terrible.
Spend some money and get some talented scouts. At this rate the Canucks are doomed. Nothing he said is about picking winners. He picks based on personality. You could throw a dart and have better picks since hes been involved

  6. They worked sooo hard, they made a list and checked it TWICE. Maybe if you checked it again we could have better picks! More focus on skill, less focus on "compete".

Dude. Focus on skill and winning. Stop focusing on ANYTHING else

  7. This is great, I would love to hear more from the scouts and development guys on how they see the players the team has drafted or signed are coming along. With the big club not really doing all that well looking to the young guys is the more exciting than watching the big team (as a fan I am always torn, I want to see the team play well and I want them to win, but when they lose, I know that will help with where they will pick in the draft – its a long painful season. Although I have been happy watching the progress of the young players.) I think Todd Harvey has been doing a pretty good job, although the long term results haven't really come in yet – we'll see how many of the picks make it to at least Abbotsford. But I have been pretty optimistic with what I have seen.

    Keep up the good work!

  8. If I could get the 7ft Karmanov, I’d get him. He would be a HUGE upgrade on MPetey. I’d take a chance on Rempe from NYRangers and give them Boeser/orKampf and Kane. Then get whoever on our high pick.

  9. "@ the end of the day" (as repeated at nauseam) this is how he scouts: other scouts write reports, they bring all the reports to him, he reads them, he `closes his eyes & imagines how the player plays (without having to actually watch the player`), then he selects the draft pick = a winning formula (*& by "winning" i mean dead last 32nd in the league – but hey, at least that guarantees they'll get another high draft pick!

  10. How about lifting the limit on Canadian players on your roster. Enough soft players!

  11. You might have one or two guys ready for NHL jump. Young kids need two or three years to be able to jump in to NHL team. Free agent fror Colloge are alot more ready. As long as Sherwood brings Canucks first pick we are OK with a trade. I think Ilya Morazov is more ready than any top ten pick. Luke Scherier has to be 2nd pick for Canucks. Rayan Rooroeck should be first pick or Caleb Maholtra.
Chances of getting Gavin this year is one in ten.

  12. As a Canuck fan for 24 years, I have always wanted to ask the management and the head scout a few things. Do they ever look at who they didn’t select in a draft who turn out to be stars? Is there any accountability for those picks they miss on? Because honestly, there have been some big misses by this scouting staff and I have to wonder who is actually accountable because it doesn’t seem to be anyone. I still remember weisbrod blabbing about the success rate in the second round and proceed to trade seconds like candy while other team draft stars and we draft duds outside of Demko in the last decade
