Hope or Mirage? Senators’ Wins, Ulmark’s Status & Upcoming Rivalry Games

The Ottawa Senators picked up back-to-back wins — but do they actually change anything?

In this episode of the Jim Keay Ford Sens Nation Podcast, hosts Steve Warne and Gregg Kennedy break down what the Senators’ recent victories really mean, why restoring confidence matters right now just as much as points, and why the upcoming games against division rivals will tell us far more about where this team is headed.

🏒 What We Discuss:

Why the Senators had to win — even if the opponents weren’t elite

Whether these wins restore belief inside the room — or just delay tough questions

Huge weekend ahead vs. Montreal and Detroit, and why those games matter more

Goaltending uncertainty:

Linus Ullmark’s return from personal leave

James Reimer’s opportunity to prove himself

Where Lévi Meriläinen fits into the equation

Brady Tkachuk hits 200 goals — but is he still dealing with lingering effects from his thumb injury?

The Senators are at a critical point in their season. The points are coming, but answers are still needed — especially in goal. This weekend could define whether Ottawa is still in the playoff conversation… or just chasing shadows.

  1. Thanks for watching! How much stock did you put in those two victories this week? And how do you think the goaltending will shake out in the next couple of weeks?

  2. Unpopular opinion but I don't care: Ullmark has been a soft prima-donna since he arrived. Clearly Boston knew something. As starting goalie making $8M he is akin to a CEO of a company who owes a higher duty and commitment to the organization. If Sally from Accounts Payable takes a leave then she can take her time returning since the organizations success does not depend on Sally. Ullmark needs to get back. The entire organization depends on his performance and he freely took on the role and the salary commensurate with that role but it also comes with commitment and a duty that Ullmark simplay has not shown.

  3. Just like Ullmark is entitled to his privacy, fans are also entitled to not give this organization any money.

Or did they forget this was a 2 way deal because without the fans, this organization is worthless.

  4. I'm thinking that this weekend it'll be Leevi against the Habs then Reimer against the Wings then Ullmark I'd imagine would be sometime next week when he's back could maybe start the game against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Just great news for us Sens fans though knowing he's back skating with the team. GSG!

  5. I still want to see the team bring up Toure and Boucher. It could really give them some confidence and Ottawa could showcase them to the league for a possible trade. Cheers from Ottawa 🍁

  6. I agree with much of the content here. The Brady hate is preposterous; the two victories were uplifting, but the opposition was poor, so there needs to be a suspension of judgement on how much the team has improved; the goaltender situation is very ambiguous and we need any of them to find their game and go on a run.

  7. What's the purpose of showing us a video of Ullmark skating? It just makes people wonder even more what the f*** is going on with this guy? Best thing we could do right now is see if we can convince Winnipeg to take our problem for their problem. That's Binnington for ulmark. That would be a great trade. I'd like to see it happen
