Tyler and Liam break down an unreal performance from Calvin Pickard in goal against the Winnipeg Jets. Facing a barrage of shots all night long, Pickard stood on his head and stopped 41 of 42, giving the Oilers a chance to win in a game where they were heavily tested defensively.
The guys dig into what stood out most from Pickard’s game, how he managed the pressure, and why it feels like he consistently delivers his best performances when his spot in the NHL appears uncertain. Is this another example of Pickard rising to the moment, and could this outing change the conversation around Edmonton’s goaltending moving forward?
Tyler and Liam discuss what this means for the Oilers, Pickard’s role on the roster, and how nights like this can swing momentum for both a player and a team.

This is one of those games where the goalie stole the game. Edmonton doesn't get that often at all so good on Pickard.
Good game. He is unable to Roloson us through the entirety of the playoffs. I enjoy watching a motivated player.
Pickard may be playing well now but that will likely not last. Let's not forget the trend we've seen in the past few years which has been constant inconsistency. If Ingram continues his play, a beneficial trade involving Pickard might be the smartest move. Barring some disaster, Jarry and Ingram will be the tandem going into the 2026 playoffs. It would be nice to keep Pickard in the minors for a little bit of insurance but as mentioned in the video, he could get claimed on waivers if his good play continues. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Hope Knobber plays Pickard against BOS. Win, and you're in (except for back-to-backs). Ingram doesn't need waivers, so it's better to keep Pickard up. CAR has already grabbed Philp from the Oil, no need to lose a decent back-up to them too.
Question who saw Wayne Gretzky win Stanley Cup when Peter owned the Edmonton Oilers ,,,just a question Alberta boomer watching listening learning to every word here from a real old oilers fan that had season tickets in old rink pickerd a way better goaltender then you think last year the Edmonton Oilers did something very stupid,,,,,,,,, putting a curse on them because of mark Carney they have played like garbage that's not the goaltender fault it's a team sport finally the team standing up blocking shots finally wow from Camrose Alberta Canada strong and free drill baby drill jobs baby jobs
That was a man fighting for his job
Loved Stu, but after his first year or two, he has never been a bonafide starter, and has never been any better than Pickard (who also isn't a bonafide starter). Stu was always given WAYYY more of a leash than Pickard, even though Pickard saved our playoff run two years in a row and went 7-1 in the playoffs last year, Stu was 7-7. By the end of this year, Pickard's save % will pass Stu, Stu will be dumped at the deadline. If we send Pickard down, there is ZERO chance he clears waivers (goalie with that record in the playoffs last year for 1 million?). People say "Stu GOT US to the finals 2 years in a row"; we got to the finals two years in a row in spite of our goaltending.
Going to be a tough choice on what to do when Jarry comes back; smartest choice is probably send Ingram down so we don't lose anyone, and see how Jarry's health holds up
I dont mind going fresh this year with a new tandem.
No matter what Oilers treated Pickard well. So if he gets traded to another playoff team. They sent off well too.
Jarry/Ingram probably is the playoffs duo. Pickard just made himself easier to sell.
