If he continues to play the way he is I don’t mind it. He’s played and fit in exceptionally well. Would rather 3 years though.
By Year 3 of that deal, his AAV is already just less than 4% of the salary cap.
Considering Nesbitt is 3 years away, Berglund is 2, and Luchanko could make the roster next year I’m totally fine with the ntc for the first couple years, that said they could trade him afterwards if things don’t work out. It’s a tradable contract. People are overreacting.

Rinse and repeat where these casual fans think they know better than the front office who literally turned this franchise around.
Colorado just signed 34 year old Brock Nelson to a 3 year deal worth 7.5M, he’ll be 36 when his deal ends. Dvorak will be 35 when his deal ends and will be making much less. Tell me again that “smart hockey teams” trade away aging vets and I’ll keep proving people wrong.

What was Briere thinking?
When you have a Center that`s consistently 54-55% in the face-off circle you lock him up forever. Dvorak will be valuable even into his 5th year.
My vote is that it`s a great deal for the Flyers future.
This show is so exhausting.
Yeah Russ… signing the center who allows Zegras to offensively shine to a 2 year deal makes ZERO sense!
The team is winning. That line plays well together and Dvorak is playing the best hockey of his career. What happens in two years, playing along side a stat stuffer like Zegras and then Dvorak decides to walk and make bank after his deal is up? If none of the kid centers are quite ready for #1 line minutes, who centers Zegras 3 years from now? Briere would have to then spend much more (AAV) money for even more years to find a guy who HOPEFULLY plays the center position the way Zegras needs…days after we allow that exact center (CD22) to walk.
The no trade clause being 2 years is the only thing that really matters.
If by chance, Jett or maybe one of the Jacks are ready for prime time, you can trade Dvorak in 3 summers. $5.1 million will then be cheap for a big 2 way center in a NHL world with a $110÷mil cap.
Plus, unsigned, Dvorak would have hit the market, and signed for way more in free agency. We got him at a discount with an escape clause starting in the 3rd year.
Smart deal.
The pod was very entertaining. I'm not surprised Ant liked the deal. Jonsey and Danny did it. This deal is just more mid players getting term and NTC. This is same old Flyers. The New Era was a scam. Same old same old. Terrible talent evaluation, team construction, and mid players getting contract extensions. What has changed?

If the flyers go on a run and make 20 million in profit in Q2 this year, they pay out future dollars to Dvorak in depreciated future currency which has less worth, so any small number is even smaller, plus there’s so much tax dvorak’s gonna see like 14 mill of that maybe? Seems fair for a dude

I agree 100% with you on this signing. I don’t care one bit how much they pay him. If Comcast wants to overpay him, they got it. Flip his butt at the deadline. Their success this season has taken them out of the McKenna sweepstakes and probably out of the top 15 picks. Nowhere near done with this rebuild, three 3rd line centers.
