The Montreal Canadiens are close — but making the playoffs isn’t the goal anymore.

If the Habs want to win a playoff round, they need to take a real step forward. In this show, we break down exactly what Montreal is missing and what kind of players they must add to compete in true playoff hockey.

We dive into:

Why size, strength, and physicality matter in the postseason

The importance of experience and playoff-tested players

What separates a playoff team from a playoff winner

How roster upgrades could change Montreal’s ceiling

What this means for trades, free agency, and internal growth

This isn’t about sneaking in — it’s about winning when it matters.
Are the Habs built for playoff hockey… or is something still missing?

🔥 Let’s talk about what it REALLY takes for the Canadiens to take the next step.

  1. Coleman is not that guy- under 6 feet and barely under 200 pounds. Not to mention 34 years old. No thanks….Little Jackeye would be better.

  2. it's crazy how Kapanen changed the narrative about the 2C since last summer all the media have been talking about is Montreal Canadian needing a 2C. that it was Kirby's spot to lose, etc. will 40+ game later Kapanen has put that talk to bed. Kudos to the kid line for being so dominant. now i'm wondering with the emergence of Kapanen if Dach even has a future in montreal… and let's not forget that Hage is coming in fast

  3. I believe we have those big physical players in the system or already drafted like Florian, Thorpe, Paupanekis, Protz. We just need 2-3 yrs for them to develop. Florian I can see being used in the playoffs this year. Your thoughts?

  4. I am a huge supporter of the way to rebuild is through development of your own players but…What do you think it would cost us in a trade to acquire Brayden Schenn? He’s tough,a team leader and can play center or wing. He has 2 years remaining on his contract after this season and not too old at 32 ..Blues are fourth worst in the League and I’m thinking they’ll be sellers at or before the trade deadline. We do have an abundance of prospects and veteran players and draft picks to make this happen I believe?, without sacrificing our grade A young talent.

  5. They need to try Anderson on the top line with Suzuki and Caufield instead of Texier. I know Texier has been productive at times very productive, but he doesn't bring that same element that Slaf brought when that line was at their absolute best. Anderson could definitely be a great chance to bring exactly what they need with just a lineup move instead of a roster move

  6. Letting Dvorak walk was a huge mistake. They probably could have gotten him to stay for less than he got in Philadelphia. They didn't even bother to try and resign him and now they have been missing what he brings all season. They didn't have a replacement in place so it didn't make any sense at all. Especially he was just finally hitting his stride last season. Such a stupid move 😡

  7. I wish Tuch was an option, but there's no way they would be able to get him if he was even available which he's not

  8. The habs don’t need all these picks and defensemen. Expect a trade before the olympics. At the very least TDL

  9. Horses it all comes down to how many horses you can count on in a 7 game series and the higher up the lineup they play the better.
I don't think we have enough.

  10. With a young team, you only sacrifice prime assets for 30+ year old players if you believe you have a legitimate shot of going deep. The reality this year is for the Habs to again make the playoffs and hopefully win the first round. The team, as is, has a legitimate shot of doing just that, no pressing need to rush into the trade market.

Unless the Habs can get a piece cheap, à la Danault, or someone that really fits long term, they need to stand pat. Short term veteran rentals on approaching the downside of their careers isn't the answer.

  11. If the Habs got a big RHDman to play with Hutson that would take this team to the next level imo. Best D in the league level.

  12. Guhle for Tig Iginla for the future …if we want a rental to play with suzi and cauf its Krieder ..tig will be ready in 2yrs, guhle is not needed as im sure reinbacher will be up after olympic break for good plus we got puckf9rd comming …to sell off the future for old ass vets would be destroying our future dynasty run of 4 cups in 6yrs

  13. Habs have size and grit on the 4th line and the 3rd pairing but they need more size and grit in the top 6 on O and the top 4 on D.
