It’s been a very odd first quarter of this season for the Bruins. On the surface, 13 wins from the first 23 games is impressive, considering preseason expectations. Swayman has been very good, allowing only 40 goals against, compared to 51 expected goals against. Geekie is right now tied for the league lead in goals scored.
On the more realistic side, though … the Bruins are 11th in the East Conference for Points Percentage (56.5%). Even though the B’s overtime success has been exciting to watch, their regulation record is 8-10-5, and that ranks 12th in the Conference, behind Philadelphia, and barely ahead of the Blue Jackets.
The future (a couple of years from now) looks very promising for the Bruins. A core featuring Pastrnak, Lindholm, Geekie, Minten, Hagens, McAvoy, Zadorov, and Swayman is formidable. I don’t think this Bruins team qualifies for the playoffs this season. However, if Toronto continues to struggle, Boston could be making multiple top 15 picks next summer, and that would be GREAT.
Captaincy should go to Pasta but Zadorov is definitely the first A. Hampus & Charlie rotate the 2nd home / away. Go Bs 🐻
I kind of disagree with TY.
Geekie unlikely was going to break out like this anywhere else. Maybe. But the key/marriage was Pasta taking Geekie under his wing. Especially teaching him how to utilize that untapped deadly one time shot.
Overall good show as usual
Good stuff. Nobody predicted geekie so let's not pretend.
He came in during the Jim Montgomery puck show. Blender lines.
Some of us stood by him last season when the fans wanted Geekie gone and Beecher was their boy.
The same as some of us stood behind Linus ullmark when he first came in and fans trashed the garbage out of him.
Why I don't listen to Bruins fans when we bring in new trades, I go to the fans on the from where they came.
I don't listen to most Bruins fans anyway.
much more enjoyable season cheering on my team instead of trashing them every freaking game they lose
Dont trade Zacha ! His contract is team friendly and he has huge value
Trade proposition…. Lysell, Poitras, Kuraly & Floridas 1st for Rasmus Andersson??? As a 50+ years B's fan I say any day of the week but would the flames accept??? The biggest issue with the trade is Cap @ 4.55 aav even with Kuraly's cap in the deal you have to bring in a 3rd team to retain to get him in under. Unless you move Arvidsson considering the log jam at Forward.
Great podcast guys
