Paul Maurice, Panthers Morning Skate: Florida in Buffalo, Face Sabres without Marchand

Florida Panthers coach Paul Maurice meets the media before his team plays the host Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 12, 2026.

Florida is coming off a 3-2 win in Ottawa thanks to goals from Evan Rodrigues, Carter Verhaeghe, and Gus Forsling.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 18 saves.

Forsling, Verhaeghe, and Aaron Ekblad had two-point nights; Sandis Vilmanis was called up from AHL Charlotte on Friday and the 21-year-old made his NHL debut.

Florida continues its six-game roadtrip (1-2) on Monday.

  1. Coach is trying to put a good face. But only so much he can do with what he has, which shows a lot of what a great coach he is. Not sure why the rookie Devine hasn't gotten more playing time, cause the kid has excellent speed and play making abilities. Hopefully, he gets in now that there's an opportunity.
