In a fight, this really shows the value to throwing someone into an object, especially letting their momentum carry them into a hard object. The trauma can be much greater than a single punch.
Also, hockey is played at the highest speeds of the major sports, yet is surrounded by an inflexible out-of-bounds wall. That is a set-up for bad injuries.
Cool to see an MD analyzing it. You should check out the Filip Engarås crash in Utica Devils
3:35 Hey, that's Bill Gates
Great video. This is another reason why hockey is the toughest sport to play.
It is easy to say "It's hockey! Suck it up!" but that was a no joke. Hit just a little different and we would be talking about potential permanent disability.
Do the cole huston injury a puck to the back of the neck what cpuld have happened how dangerous that was what are the affects ect
I hope he’s ok. Overall I’m actually pleased with how 55 acted after, checking on him as he passed, talking with the jets C and taking a fight even though it wasn’t an intentional injury
Always here for more hockey. Looking for more!
that was nhl26 level hit. hope he heals quick
There is blood on the ice
Saw it live, the arena was silent. They didn't even dare to play it back during the game because it was scary as fuck.
Is it better that he lifted his legs up and that energy resulted in his spine flexing as opposed to his legs being down and his spine compressing?
This doctor is so great about explaining things to us who don’t have a medical background. Keep up the great work.
would like to know your thoughts about why he was bleeding?
So uncalled for. What's the point.
the worst hit against the boards I've ever seen in 55 years
Hard to watch, holy mackerel.
OUCH
I was at the game last night and it happened just below us. What a brutal collision with the boards. Many people in the stands were shocked and worried, myself included. Hopefully Haydn has a full recovery. Thanks Brian for your informed perspective.
Holy fuck thank God he was kinda moving
Terrifying. If his head tilted was further down, good chance of becoming a quadriplegic.
Dirty push from a piece of shit player that has no right being in the league.
Man it’s rare for a guy to get hurt from the boards that far away, he was flying though! Hopefully he’s ok!
Anyone know if he was sent to HSC or St. Boniface?
I was at the game and the whole arena went silent
update from the team earlier this afternoon:
NHLJets head coach Scott Arniel says Haydn Fleury has a broken nose and a bruised back. As far as a concussion, more time/testing needed to know for sure.
Fleury was able to go home from hospital last night and was around the rink today for the team’s meetings.
Finally a hockey video!! Let’s go man!!! I can’t tell you how much I was hoping for an Igor breakdown video with the knee injury because I have no idea how to judge severity myself obviously, but I’m glad Brian is at least starting to look at the NHL… even the Ross Johnston hit last night would’ve been good to look at
TSN have reported that he's home and safe with a broken nose and bruised back. Crazy that it wasn't a worse outcome.
Would be great to see a breakdown of Fabian Schar’s injury that’s just happened
Update that as of 3 hours ago, he is back to the team with: a broken nose, and a bruised back…..Crazy that was all that happened from that crash.
Absolutely sickening blow. Hope he'll turn out okay! Also his name is Haydn, not Hadyn. Just looking out for ya doc
Love seeing some hockey videos!
surprised hockey isnt featured more often
apparently the most serious injury was a broken nose. Some bruises and aches, but nothing more.
Remember Travis Roy
When a WWE wrestler is really hurt, the referee will cross his arms and form an "X".
Are you serious? Have you ever put on a pair of skates? I’ve played hockey and many other sports, and have had several spine surgeries because of my antics. I can’t believe you can say with a straight face that you’re not worried about the neck. Sheesh!
We need more hockey videos!!! (Especially this season with how many injuries there’s been in the NHL)
Oh that mfer waaay dead
