  1. I was back from vacation and still missed the late show start. Happy New Year everyone!

  2. Under no circumstances should the Habs trade #91 especially for a 39 year old center that has been ridden hard and put away wet. Flush that thought twice.

  3. Suzuki on the PK? You've consistently have been telling us Suzuki doing double time on the PP was overkill, PP is less physically demanding than the PK.

  4. Bolduc seems to be the only one who doesn’t fit in anywhere. He’s so inconsistent. Is he finding it tough being French Canadian playing for the Habs?? It has been known to happen (Drouin)

  5. IMO the Suzuki, Caufield line needs someone with size on their line. I think Dach will do well there. He did before

  6. Marco's right, we need someone about 6'4"/220ish lbs…O wait, we have one, his name is Kirby Dach…and what happened to 'Newhook plays big'? There's no way, no how you break up that 2nd line for any extended period of time. Now that Demigod is getting more time can you double shift him? Sure, but there's no reason to put him there full time and mess with the 2nd line chemistry. Suzuki didn't 'lose a step' when Slafs moved to the 2nd line, he was playing conservative given the team wasn't playing well and he was covering for Bolduc (or the way he plays). Suzuki is playing much better in the last few games, more rushes, faster, back to his old self. Before deciding to mess with existing success lets see what Dach can do on the top line, if its not going as well as we'd like, then look at changes.

  7. Why cant we draft a couple of policemen for this team? They have to be able to skate, forecheck along the boards, pass to linemates, and drop the hammer when it is necessary. There must be hundreds of players like that to choose from among all of the countries who play hockey.

  8. Gavin McKenna going to NCAA was a dumb move. He got exposed against bigger older players, I believe questions about his game came to light even the discussions around "is he really #1" started.

  9. Evans , Anderson and Dach are a couple games away from coming back, Laine is skating and newhook by the end of season . So who do you sit? Beck will be sent down obviously but you’ll still have to play with a 23 men lineup and still gonna be forced to lose a guy through trade or waiver , you can’t sit texier as he’s been very good and responsible, same for Blais who has been physical and great forechecker . And once Guhle comes back than you still have an extra defenseman , I don’t see any room for gallagher

    Suzy-cole-Dach
    Slaf-Kapanen-Demi
    Andy-Evans-Bolduc
Danault -Blais -? Veleno , Laine ,Gallagher ,Newhook and struble as a defenseman

That’s 4 extra guys , so are they gonna waive one of them or try to trade one of them?

If there’s a trade it will include at least 2 active players for. The habs kept

My guess is they’ll be forced to waive Blais or trade him as nobody wants gallagher or Laine

  10. Hey guys, huge fan here. Just wondering if these hour long shows will be put on apple pods cast. I like listening to them while i'm driving

  11. Could Marco elaborate about the CH cap? Because no matter how i look at it, once Dach and Guhle come back from LTIR the CH would need to get rid of around 4.4M to be cap compliant.

Sending Beck, Engstrom and Fowler would clear 2.7M but that still leave them around 2M short.

  12. Overall another good show guys. I mostly agree on the summary though as Marty says "You're always chasing perfection" so I'm never looking for a perfect game, just consistent hard work and attention to detail and overall that's what we saw. The most telling game was STL (not too unlike the last LA game we played) that showed we still need to learn to win dirty which is what it will take to go anywhere in the playoffs. Marty has time to get this team to understand that, so I'm very interested to see how the 2nd half plays out, especially when it comes to playing more defensive minded teams.

  13. Montembeault is nothing but trouble down the stretch, i would trade him right now while he’s worth something, he will never become carey price all of sudden, he plays one good game and at least two or three bad ones , the guy is not stable plus he’s not that young any more , his presence is disturbing other young goalies, get rid of the guy ASAP , that’s what i say , and remind me if it’s any different in a few weeks or months in the future , this advice is free of charge by the way , you’ll thank me later….

  14. I just get so tired of hearing excuses for any CANADA hockey team that doesn't get gold. Why do we act like the US. We, as a country, in any other sport will congratulate the winner and say, there's always next year. Excuse after excuse after excuse. Enough already.

  15. I believe we need a first line winger more then a 2nd line center…leave our second line alone…they have been great and still growing together.

  16. Before the Slaf, Caufield, Suzuki line, Dach played really well with those guys. If Dach can stay healthy, that could become a deadly line

  17. Marco, I’ve been on the McCann train all year long. Good fit, great shot, good size, goes to high danger areas.

  18. Handicap canada lmaooo please the amount of 1st round and future 1st round picks on the team. They were the best team constructed in the tourney, yea they’re kids but we can also point out that they didnt play a lick of defense. 95% of the forwards didn't care to back check. They didnt show any heart, the czechs wanted it WAY more and it showed. Canadas team use to play with passion and heart now its all just individual skill and play.

  19. FWIW, the TSN panel after the semi-final game gave props to Hage. They were surprised that he wasn't named one of Canada's top three players, pointing out he has been playing well since the first game & he should be playing for the Habs by season's end because he's NHL-ready.

Definitely has the skill & intelligence, but I don't think he's quite NHL-ready. Needs to work on some things, like faceoffs, which is a skill that can be learned (especially at his age).
