The best goal scorers are people with a God-given talent for shooting the puck into the net. None of them consistently score fewer goals off of actual shots than Jake Guentzel.

Okay, I have one remaining question: Why does Kyle Connor have a neck like a giraffe?
I'm a Wild fan and this pretty much describes Joel Erickson Ek's game (obviously he's not nearly as productive as Guentzel though). Just a knack for being in the right place at the right time.
rangers fan here. sitting at the three minute mark, let's see if my memory serves me. this guys first two goals were against aanti raanta, and one of those was a pretty soft five-hole shot.
this dude haunts me, even if NYR went 1-1 in two series against the Penguins with him around. he still had eight goals in the 2022 series. and he did damage in the Hurricanes attempt at a reverse sweep of the Rangers two years later. feels like, should the rangers manage to make it as a WC team this year, it's going to be guentzel racking up 9 in a six game elimination.
9:39 I think you got it right there man, lol. Older player playing in a different system learning how to play a different way.
Wouldn’t an empty netter kinda count as a garbage goal?
It's always frustrating to me when people see players using movement to get tap-ins/redirects/easy looks and complain that they're just "in the right place at the right time" as if that isn't a genuine skill.
I don’t care how he scores them, all I know is that Jake’s Shakes are half off!!
I miss Jake Guentzel being a cane so much. He was the best antidote to the classic canes games when we have 40 shots on goal 90% "deserve to win o'meter" and losing 2 1.
They don't ask how, they ask how many. Well, PG's asking 'how'.
He looks like either Beavis or Butthead.
Seems very similar to Zach Hyman’s 54 goal season when he just became an extension of the goal post
Sounds like hyman
At 8:45, Kovalchuk had 6 40 goal seasons not 5. Guessing you forgot to include the year he was traded where his stats were split.
Wait… I’m older than you 😭
I would argue that, in addition to what you pointed out, is that what makes Jake uniquely effective is the WAY he gets open. Rather than try to outmuscle someone 40lbs heavier than him, he'll drift into a new spot that still gives him an angle towards the net. Often times getting behind the defender so that he has to turn his back to the puck carrier in order to not lose him. Having always played with good passers, as well as being sharp af when it comes to redirections and directional taps, makes him one of the most effective in the game at this
Few things scare me, but that man (as a Flyers fan)
He scared me. That 4 goal game against us in game 6 in 2018 was maddening
My hometown hero
Great video! So so glad to have Jake as a Bolt. Just a heads up, Pastrnak has 5 40+ goal seasons, should be next to Kovalchuk @ 8:43
You’re 90s graphic game is incredibly strong for a 26 year old.
i. love. charts.
go bolts.
I have no idea what is the point of this video? JG scores goals in a game called hockey. I always thought that that's the point of the game. Calling someone scoring because he is lucky is just idiotic
Serious Secret Base vibes detected! Excellent content to match the style. Thank you!
8:45 enter Nikita Kucherov. He and Guentzel compliment each other perfectly. Similar to Guentz and Crosby.
He arrives at the net at just the right time over and over and over again.
Guentzel has been on of my favorite players since the 22/23 season, this video does a great job at explaining exactly why!
He's got elite hockey IQ and goes exactly where he needs to and has success because of it. Why try and do it the hard way just to be called a "pure goal scorer" (for which he 100% is)
"they don't ask how… they ask how many"
My favorite tidbit about Jake Guentzel is that he kinda looks like he has alopecia, but his hair is just really really light-colored.
