  1. Its insane how crosby, despite being in later stages of his career, always evolves his game. Always teleporting to a dangerous area, and. Pretty smart, especially in a league that demands speed.

  2. DK – While I'd love to see the Pens make the playoffs, I personally don't care if they miss. Would I be disappointed? Sure, to a degree, but I haven't enjoyed watching them this much in years. This team hasn't looked this alive, engaged or like they're having fun in a very very long time. People need to just enjoy the ride. The future is bright for this organization.

  3. My only criterium for this team's success at the start of this season has been: "Are they fun to watch?"
Oh boy are they ever fun to watch! Even the complete duds of games there's something you can look at and think 'hey, that's kinda cool'. They've played some terrific hockey of late, and even in that losing streak they had some really good games (and then came the meltdown). About McGroarty though, eyeball tells me hes not been playing well, coughing up pucks all over the rink. That said when he back checks, he's like very tenacious, also in that Detroit game. Can we address the elephant in the room though, on that Detroit goal, Letang had the puck go by and just stopped skating. Nevermind reckless shooting, that's just about unforgivable.

  4. The Pens have a legit 4th line right now … it hasn't been anywhere close to this good since the Matt Cullen 1.0 days.

  5. Their old habits came out in the 1st, but I give them tons of credit for snapping out of it and pulling out the win.

  6. Thank you DK. Five wins in a row after the Christmas break. The defense and offense has been great and it shows. They have been going after the puck and blocking. Amazing !! Great show DK

  7. What a game!!! 5 straight… way to go pens… Pens with the come and the same night the Steelers win the division what a great Sunday.

  8. My son and I were at both games this weekend; our hotel was across the street from the team in Detroit. We had the opportunity to catch the players jumping on the bus while we were walking back from breakfast.

Let me tell you…. If you were paying attention to the teams overall quiet, composed confidence you knew that game in Detroit was going to be a special one.

Then follow it up with that absolutely fantastic comeback win in Columbus 🎉🎉 Not only did we get to see this team at its best but it made some great memories as well.

    So thank you Penguins!!!

  9. DK, good stuff but I think fans “like” the team. It sure has been fun to watch. I’m assuming most fan’s fear is to finish just outside the playoffs. Without spending to the cap, that’s likely to occur.

  10. I'm not inspired by this team…I'm enjoying the playoff contention. I still don't see a roster that is that great. I think the best off season signing in Brazeau (I was a fan of his signing) has played above his level. I think Mantha has played on par maybe a little better. As expected the younger guys are coming down to earth, including Kindel. I never thought much of McGroarty, I still don't. I mentioned that I don't think he will amount to more than a 3rd line winger, maybe 4th when they got him. And Koivie is what he is, a middle six winger that is smart but doesn't carry the play.
I thought this team would finish bottom 10, they have been there at times this year, and at times like now in playoff position. We'll see how they end up, but I don't know how this team looks anything more than a mediocre team. That is not a slight. They just don't have the look or a feel that is a team that is contending or a team that is actually building towards something. The youth movement and signings aren't looking like in 1, 2 or even 3 years will be competing for a cup. It's not to say I don't like some of them.
Kudos to Karlsson, Rust, Rakell, 4th line, Gino, even Letang for half the year, and of course Sid. They are the reason the team is where they are. Kindel has played great, Novak in particular recently has been a little more than he has been in his career (which is not good enough to be top 6 but not hard to play against to be bottom 6). The team has the feel of a team that exceeds expectations for a year, not a team that is going somewhere for years to come. Personal opinion…and I hope they make the playoffs, if nothing more than to have the vets see the playoffs.
