Can Anybody Stop The Colorado Avalanche?

The Colorado Avalanche are the best team in the NHL, and by a lot. Colorado’s on pace to have not only the best season this year, but to have the best regular season of all time. Led by the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, and Martin Necas, Colorado’s experiencing unparallelled success. They score more goals than any other team, prevent goals better than any other team, and look absolutely dominant almost each and every night. Today, we take a look at the Colorado Avalanche, and whether anyone can stop this juggernaut for the rest of the season, or whether their second stanley cup within the decade is on the horizon.

  1. Dallas Hope ? LMFAO….11 point lead with a 3 games in hand on 2nd place Wild and a 12 point lead on Dallas with one game in hand. Dallas is 4-4-2 in the last 10 games, and at this pace, they will be a W1 team after Nashville passes them.

  2. The stars went all in when the avs were down (and have nothing to show for it). A very flawed took a team designed to be them to the very end
And now the have no flaws and a year to prepare. No one is stopping the wagon

  3. What is in the back of my mind is Mackinnons post game 7 loss last season.

    Something similar to

How are we going to be able to beat this team in the future? They just beat us and they were missing their top 2 players.

  4. I'd bet a lot of money that a heart-to-heart discussion with MacKinnon today, about last year's first round exit, would result with him getting riled up, border line angry. An angry MacKinnon is not someone you want to play against and his extreme motivation to win seems to be extremely infectious on the team. This team looks VERY different when compared to last year and I have no doubts the Avs will take the Stars or the Wild, or any other team for that matter, in a 7-game series. They just need to stay healthy because all of the other pieces are there, even the PP showed some life last night!

  5. I hope they can keep playing like this. They will miss Rantanen in playoffs, both sides really screwed those contract negotiations up. It's a shame.

  6. TBH, only injuries, Postseason Officiating, or a Meteor can stand in their way. This Team is playing likeca cohesive Unit driven by Coach Bednar, who deserves the Jack Adams. #AvsNation

  7. Unless somebody else beats them the Dallas Stars will beat the Avs. They’re 7-0 against them in the playoffs and Rantanen knows them like the back of his hand

  8. If we stay healthy! We should see a cup here again. The biggest worry as always is Dallas. They are a tough ass team with great goaltending. It would be nice to take them out early like five games if possible, which probably not. I just don’t want it to go to seven games against Dallas in the first row because we cannot win shootouts for some reason.

  9. I remember the 2006 Redwings, 2019 Bolts, and 2023 Bruins fans saying the same thing. Ive seen this movie before.

  10. Probably the best NHL team since the Red Wing dynasty. However, the fucking stupid throwback jerseys are goddamned annoying. Are we the Nordiques, the Rockies or Sybil? Pick a personality and stick with it. And I know this is an NHL marketing scam, but they don't HAVE to buy into the retardation, they could just say NO, like a big boy. It is embarrassing that the NHL has gone this route. Oh well, at least Colorado Avalanche have turned it around after nearly 20 yrs of bland effort. They do have my attention.

    Edited for spelling and clarity

  11. We still probably could use 3C,& 1 more 6/7 dman to round this team out-as Bednar has admitted they are gonna look at before the deadline. Drury is fine at 3C but he's elite at 4C,& in a perfect world ya go get a decent 3C-so ya can keep him where he excels. And Minnesota actually scares me more than Dallas. Stars are great at comebacks, get great goaltending,& have an elite PP. But their 5 on 5 play processwise lately hasn't been near as dominant as Minnesota or especially Colorado. It's totally fair to say theyve had the AVS number when it matters most,& good chance they'll have to prove they can overcome them when it matters. But far from a guarantee Dallas will even survive Minnesota if that's 1st round matchup. Stars find ways to win,& will definitely be a tough out. But they've also been pretty fortunate recently in several games.

And that game they beat us in the SO was the 3rd game of the season,& Ottenger literally stole them 2 points. AVS absolutely dominated that game processwise & deserved a regulation win. We shall see what happens,& as you said-finishing 1st,& making Dallas & Minnesota beat each other up is ideal. But right now/today-id pick Minnesota to beat Dallas but long ways to go,& so much can happen. I work at the AVS,& Nuggets arena-& while it guarantees nothing for the rest of the regular season & especially the playoffs-right now/today they are the most dominant Colorado sports team I've seen in my 49 yrs on earth. Obviously they gotta finish it off with a title to measure up to the 3 Avalanche Cup teams,3 Broncos SB title teams or 1 Nuggets Championship I've seen in my life. But right now I cant believe how dominant they are at times. 2 real losses in 40 games is just beyond ridiculous.

  12. As a diehard Baseball fan (on top of being a diehard Avs fan), I still cannot see this pace being held for the Avs. I bring up baseball, because the 2025 Mets looked just like the Avs have through the first half of the season, and then they tanked SO hard, they didn't even make the playoffs. I don't see that particular thing happening with the Avalanche, but there is still a chance something truly drastically bad happens, and they end up being in 2nd or 3rd at the end of the season in the division, and once again, facing Dallas (but more likely, Minnesota). I sure hope that does NOT happen. This has been the most fun season of hockey I have watched as an Avs fan: Even better than the 2022 season (until the playoffs, obviously). Hopefully they keep it up, hopefully they stay in first in the division, and hopefully they make a great playoff run.

  13. The Wild aren't done. Expect them to pick up a center who's dominant in the circle, and the league has something to worry about in MN. Especially if they can land ROR, look out.

  14. hot take, they're not as good as it seems. they have faced very little actual adversity, unlike their division rivals, which both jave had huge injury woes, particularly in the first half. Colorado has had many key players play every game up until now. Minnesota and Dallas both, not so much

  15. … and Colorado is doing that with a shoddy power play … imagine if that thing ever got rolling.

  16. If anyone stops the Avs from succeeding, it'll be the Avs themselves. They have all the tools to go the distance, it's just a matter of execution.
