That’s the Roy I love standing up for his players like he did in Colorodo. I really think Darche being the gm has giving them the freedom to be themselves which is showing in the ice.
Ty Gil, didn’t know he reached out to Romi afterwards. I think intent to push was there but not to hurt. At this point a glove drop is def called for but we don’t need to villianize him forever and go overboard. Just go at it and put it behind us
Good morning team! Gil, you are absolutely right. The Islanders will take matters in their own hands and "something" is going to happen to Rantanen next time the teams meet. Probably one of those drop the gloves pre drop of the puck, and it would be warranted. Circle that date of their next meeting. I'm looking forward to it. Reaching out to Romanov was certainly the right thing to do, but it doesn't ease the blow any, in my eyes. Too many times we seem to be on the short end of these. Enough said. I'm glad we took the game against the Stars. That makes this road trip a successful one. We need to keep up this kind of play. Thank you, Gil for another great episode. Totally agree with your take on the situation Gil. Disappointed with the NHL's decision to let Mikko Rantanen off without a suspension. Sending a defenseless player into the boards at full speed, numbers clearly exposed, is exactly the kind of play the league claims it wants to eliminate. That's the wrong message, plain and simple. The NHL had a chance to draw a hard line and chose the soft one. Player safety deserves better. LGI
Mistakes happen & I think he made an aggressive play on Romy and it led to a bad, illegal hit hence the penalty. My take is that these guys skate everyday. It seemed to me that he had more options other than pushing Romy.
The league should have done something, just one game would have sent the message.
Gil , what about the b.s. call on Horvat , he was tripped big time so much that he fell violently and his stick struck the stars player. But some how Horvat not only gets double minor AND A 10 MINUTE for arguing ??? Are these clueless refs kidding me ??? We lose our best player while dallas has 4 or 5 superstars . They shouldve attacked that ref 😅
Appreciate your honestly about the fact Mikko didn’t get suspended solely because he’s a high end player. Hit was super nasty looking. How does he not get at least a 2-3 game suspension for that

Was the hit on Romanov better than what Jonathan Drouin got a one game suspension for? Not even close. Rantanen is not a dirty player but that was a dirty play. Drouin deserved his suspension, Rantanen deserves a suspension as well.
I've said this before, and I'll say it again…sit Sippy and Zeke, and bring up Gatcomb and Veremyev!
I don't think there was a push from Mayfield. The hook was in rantinens midsection. His intention was to slow him up as he was coming in fast on Romanov. Skates may have collided but Rantinen did nothing to slow his roll when looking squarely at the numbers on his back
Yes without some sort of suspension even if it is to calm the Islanders from taking retribution. Your creating a wild west NHL like the 70s were. It also sets a precedent to all the rats in the NHL. "Look what I can do and get away with without punishment". Heck Florida has won back to back cups playing this way.

As an aside, the Florida Panthers are besieged with injuries. If come a calling for a C, I move Pageau in a heart beat. Even if we make it to the playoffs, a lofty endeavor, we're not resigning Pageau next season so we should strike while the iron is hot and move him for a pick and/or assets. Same with the Devils who lost their C because he had to play with a steak knife. The big question is would the Devils be interested in Pageau while Hughes is recovering from his Ginzu Knife injury? And what would they be offering up for Pageau's services? Perhaps Florida will take Lee off of our hands as well. I would definitely retain salary from Lee just to move him off the roster and open up a spot for one of our kids. Get it done Darche!

Gil, another take .. in March if the Isles really need that game I would only expect some retribution if it is agreed upon during warmups .. otherwise that game will just be a hotly contested game. Yes, teams don't forget, so I would expect the two of them (or designated proxies) will square off at puck drop and it'll be over.

when Alexander Romanov was injured late in the game in Dallas. He's been placed onI IR. It's being described as an upper body injury, and I'm glad he's not in the 🏥. The Islanders deserve credit for not causing a bench clearing brawl. There was contact, but it wasn't accidental; however, the Islanders and the ⭐ will be meet again at UBS Arena.. If Rantinen had hit Romanov with malicious intent, he would've been suspended . The Islanders defense is still vulnerable despite playing well, especially on this recent road trip. Patrick Roy was livid in EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. He basically threatened the man. Ever since he was hired by the Islanders in 2024, Roy kept his temper in check.
