This was probably the most exciting Islanders game of the season. Not the best played but the most exciting. The Isles matched GN pace, and physicality. Besides our top dogs having a phenomenal year, the bottom six, especially the 4th line is producing lately. Cizicas, and Gatcomb are playing great, the goal on the pp was a thing of beauty. Great to see Holmstrom score, even though he's not scoring much so far this season his all-around game is spot on. I also want to point out how well Tony D is playing, his puck movement is excellent and should have more goals, and assists on the season than what he has so far. It is also worth mentioning that his defense has improved as well. Stars of the game Bo, Sorokin, and the 4th line, minus one of the fourth liner, and a gift basket filled with lettuce, carrots, and apples goes to Pelech, and Mclean. Another tough game coming up on Thursday, but it's a good time to be an Islander fan

The Islanders have been competitive with all the top teams in the league. All the acquisitions that Isles made under Darche have worked so far.
Street fight game
Great win, the encouraging news is they have been playing up to tougher competion. Just need them to not take the foot off the gas with some of the lesser teams or teams they should beat.
Sorokin was great. A couple of bad bounces that went onto guys standing alone for an easy tap-in and one he couldn’t do anything about. There was one bad goal but otherwise a great effort. They have to get better at defending when the opposing team pulls its goalie. I feel like they are very passive and it becomes a shooting gallery. I am often hoping for a 2 goal lead late as 1 feels not enough. And how about Horvat who is on pace for a 50 goal season.
Another signature win for the isles! Fall behind, come back and take the lead, only to fall into a tie after a heartbreak goal with 12 seconds left, but hang in there, kill a big penalty in overtime, and pull it out in the shootout!

Gm Gil. As the Isles play one impressive game after another, I am really starting to believe this is not a streak. Instead, this is a quality club and their play is legit. while I would prefer the team did not give up a loser point to the Knights, the Knights are not in their division and that point has no negative impact. The team still has one major weakness and that is special teams play. Once again the Isles get penalized for a phantom trick. All penalties should be challengeable by replay

Don't like giving up the tying goal…..but they have the confidence not to give up stick with it and win the shoot out at least. We haven't seen that confidence in a while.It's good to have it back. Still, I don't give too much stock to where we are in the standings, or if we make the playoffs, i'm just proud that we have a new attitude and everybody's bought into it.

Marner, Eichel, Stone, Hertl, Theodore, Hanifin………………..and the Islanders beat them for the second time this season. Horvat's contract looks tenable now…………..19 goals already. I'm not happy with Pelech's late penalty, or the goal with 12 seconds remaining to tie the game (not on the power play as it had already expired). We have to clean things up and learn how to put away elite teams. Why not put Shabby in the shootout, and why is MacLean still on this team?
I’m not sure Tsyplakov fits this uptempo style of play, although he did show something promising last season. I think they need to give him a real shot on the Second line. If he continues to struggle then he has to be sent down. Wish Lee would spend some time mentoring this kid on crashing the net and screening the goalie. Thanks Gil

Adam Pellach for taking a stupid and Kyle MacLane for taking an even stupider penalty that would cost them a win in regulation. Go, Emil Heineman for scoring the GW in the SO. HAPPY 🎂, MARK STRIET. . He scored 2 goals and a helper in a win over the Blackhawks. Hear

Gil, Holmstrom has to be bumped up to Line 1 or 2. He is the only real replacement for Palms. Roy has to tell him to shoot, simple SHOOT! Kid has the ability to score 30 plus. He needs to be a selfish to help the team. It’s pure talent situation!
So true that goal by Horvat gave a spark.lslanders can score on them and so they did. We must start playing the body in those close quarters areas in front of our net. 😊

Hi Gil! Heck of a game! Let’s be honest Gil—getting rid of Dobson was a winner. Emil has been a hockey blessing. Shaff has been a hockey Godsend! Sorro has been Sorro. We have a very good back up. To me Gil—-Shaff has invigorated Barzie and Bo. He has rejuvenated these guys. Our team is exciting again. Let’s reign it in—-we have to let go of Lee and JG—that’s a must in order to build a future annual contending team. Baby Mac? Imagine getting a true bad boy from the AHL and sitting baby Mac? Another major cheap shot on the kid—why? Simply because they know they can. Gatcomb? A 4th line gem. We are fortunate he wasn’t claimed—you and I both like him allot! Young man can play. Good afternoon team! Gil, I will hands down take an OT/Shoot out win against any west team. Would have loved to have this win in regulation, but I'll take what we can get. After being down 2-zip they showed some guts in this game. Glad to see it. I just have one thing to say to the team when it comes to shoot outs. Doesn't anyone triple deke any more. One, two, three, triple deke. Fakes the goalie right out of his pads. Wouldn't have had to come down to Heineman, but he certainly was there when we absolutely needed it. Awesome for Sorokin giving the Knights a big donut in the shoot out. Thanks again, Sir. Everyone, I hope you had a good day today! Listened to this show tonight while shoveling snow in NEPA and when you said Gatcomb had 9 hits I let out a loud WOW (my neighbors probably think I'm crazy now haha). I've been loving the new 4th line too. Just playing with that little extra grit. Is Gatcomb "Clutterbuck Jr."?
