Definitely warren coming up need someone to protect Schaefer.
Sorokin is average at best. After giving up that horrible goal in OT , 2023 in game 6 against Carolina he has not been the same. Isles D is no bargain either.
He’s also a big reason why their PK has been at the bottom for the league the last couple of years.
Blaming the goalie coach is a bad joke

Sorokin gets beat over the blocker consistently. Then the “oops 5 hole” goals. He hasn’t been elite since he crapped the series ending goal line goal against the Canes
Bro, It's not that big of a decision. Grecco hasn't meshed with Sorokin, The other guy is a long time friend of Sorokin, this was a logical move. I'm glad Darche nipped this now instead of pulling a LL move further sinking the season
There is a problem with sorokin and changing the coach wont change his mediocre play.
Listen, We expected worse, as long as the development of our prospects is heading in the right direction, Schaefer fitting in, the improvement of the PP and PK. Most of us said during the summer that this was most important for this season.
MacLeans got to have a break out game. I don't know if he's getting the ice time… If he clears that could be good for Bridgeport and Ritchie as he could Tutor the draw and get reps and confidence in his game… he's had three years…
I wonder if the Isles would lend Schaefer to Team Canada for the World Junior Championship's
Sorokin has no more excuses, needs to get his sh$t together. LGI
The issue with Sorokin is not skill or talent but rather bad habits have led to very bad mechanics. When you compare his mechanics from when he first got to nyi to the present it's completely different. Naumovs was instrumental in sorokins development in the khl so yes it makes the sense from a coaching perspective. However darche doesn't have the scouting and or player development in his resume to have made this move by himself. This came from Patrick roy which brings to the last point. Patrick roy was the best goalie of his generation yet doesn't feel compelled to step in and personally coach sorokin to get him over the hump. I find that strange.
Glad Darche made the move to change up the goalie coach. Hopefully Gatcomb doesn’t get claimed. The Wings will give Us Hell! Certainly will not be easy!
The Defense in front of Sorokin is all the issue.Maybe at the trade deadline they could get a veteran D man who is good on that side of the pick to teach Schaefer that side of the puck.

Gm Gil. There is no doubt that Sorokin has lost a step … We'll see what happens… I think Sorokin is burned out by goaltending for a poor club. He needs a change in scenery.
Good morning team! Gil, right now I'm enjoying the team. There are mistakes on the ice being made. Our PK is still very suspect. Our goaltending isn't where I would like it to be. I can see slight improvements in the goaltending, but still not, what I would call, comfortable with. There are growing pains, I understand that. I do like the way they don't give up. That back and forth battle with the Sens, and going down to the Sharks. I'm impressed with how they battled and got wins out of those games. Once the other stuff gets straightened out, and I do believe it will, if they keep playing like they are in every game, I would be satisfied with that for now. Remember, we're going to have growing pains before we are the elite team I would like them to be. Right now, I'm looking to watch a team that fights for the win, no matter who the opponent is. I saw this coming once they announced that Sorokin's KHL coach was coming to the organization.
You can’t send him back to Juniors. He stays. If he starts to show fatigue maybe they’ll let him go to World Juniors.

Pierre Engvall is out for the season, Mark Gatcomb is on waivers, and Romanov is out for the next 2 games. Matheiu Darche said that Matthew Schafer's not going anywhere. Hope Gatcomb clears waivers because I love hi play. He’s a good 4th liner. Glad Engvall is not gonna be seen anywhere on the ice, not the way it went. I don’t want to see anyone injured.
I really think Sorokins play is getting overblown. Our team is top 5 in shots allowed (30.67/g) and leads the league in high danger shots against. Having your goalie stop multiple breakaways and odd man rushes is going to cause a lot of fatigue, it’s not surprising the odd soft goal gets in.
