@Vancouver Canucks

This NEW Canucks player looks VERY promising…

The Vancouver Canucks beat the New York Rangers in a shutout for Thatcher Demko. Liam Ohgren scored his first canucks goal, while Marco Rossi and Zeev Buium also played well fresh off the Quinn Hughes trade.

  1. its not a Fing rebuild its a trade adjust to get back in the HUNT ! you silly goose! If we were in a deep rebuild would of been number 1 picks not quality players to get W's. Meanwhile Adam Foote got yelled at 4 not selling enough tickets . so we can still take this quite up there. Even Demko / some players made it clear we are not playing to TANK now go cheer another team if ur team tank . Be realistic we wont be tanking as hard as u horrble fans think!~get REAL

  2. No player or coach is going to tank on purpose, they will try to win every game. Truth is Hughes wanted to play in his home country, he seems so happy in Mini. I don’t think dude wanted to be in Canada anyways, so let’s move on and win some games boys. We will be fine

  3. Such a wierd position to be in right now! I really want them to pick 1st but feels so good when they win 😂😂😂

  4. Rubbing it in to JT is worth the win and then some. He must be having body language problems. Love that aspect for sure. Great to have Ohgren get one, hoping Rossi is next! The new guy burst will only last so long. Its not like new car smell.

Hey I caught some Hughes hate in a Devils chat. They were calling Jack "Cutter" and Quinn, "Quit" Hughes. Some sour grapes in Jersey.

    Cheers Deaner.

  5. They look so much different now…they seem more dynamic now…i also think Petey will become a beast now that he is big dawg on the team and was letting JT/Hughes be top dog and didnt shine maybe because he wasnt having fun? Hughes seems like he was pretty serious about things with his outbursts on the ice we've seen…

  6. Its a win when they win and its a win if they lose. Its a win win season now. We can be happy when they win and happy when they lose.

  7. I guess both teams benefit from this trade. Canucks free up cap space and got some young players back. They will not stay in the basement long.

  8. They need to trade Demko at the deadline to maximize their return. His cap hit goes to 8.5 next season. Need to trade before he gets hurt. He's in the decline of his career. Don't be fooled by this one good stretch of play. Hopefully he keeps it up to maintain his trade value to a contending team. They should try to recover the 4th round pick for Kane at the deadline as well. Teddy Blueger at age 31 should probably be traded to a contender for a 3rd round pick if possible. They should try to resign Sherwood at a team-friendly cap hit, but if not, then trade him too.

  9. Someone said Ohgren was not a fast player…yeah. He looks fast to me. I'm stoked to see a reunion with his old teammate Lekkerimaki!

  10. I look at the Hughes trade the same way i saw the Bure trade. Both players were generational but in the end for reasons didn't want to stay in Vancouver. It remains to be seen how the Hughes trades ends up but in the case of the Bure trade it wasn't as bad as it looked when all things were said and done. The players the Canucks got in return over the years after the Bure trade turned out pretty good with Jovo being the centerpiece. Ohgren & Buium may turn out to be very solid players having key roles on the team & if miraculously the Canucks end up with a high draft pick the top prospects in next year's draft are pretty darn good. Besides Willander & D-Petey have looked good this year and could potentially be cornerstones of the d core.

  11. No doubt Hughes is an uber talented & driven player, yet he has a true & deep depressive whiney side. He cannot take the continued pressures when times are tough. Almost like a passive aggressive tantrum. I truly wish him well & he needs a winning team backdrop to do so. He outgrew his patience & empathy in Van, sparked by media constantly suggesting that he alone was carrying the team and should feel pressures enough to want to leave. In escaping these pressures and suggestions, and being a perfectionist, i really hope he can sustain his work ethic in good mental health. I wish him well for his drive to succeed. Onward & upward Quinn. It’s nice to see a smile for your spotlight.

  12. TEAMS win championships, NOT individual superstars. If it were truly the other way around, McDavid and Mathews would have won a Stanley Cup by now. . . Superstars cost too much and handicap a franchise's ability to ice a well-rounded, high compete team. Additionally, the term "superstar" has become somewhat diluted over the last decade of NHL hockey. A true hockey superstar makes everyone around him better.

  13. Bring up Lekkerimaki to play with Odhren send Bains down.
    Play Tankinen more for losses.
Trade Kamff and get Raty back into the lineup

  14. The Hughes trade was fair for both teams & an unhappy player was traded out which is always good no matter who they are. "A fair exchange is no robbery" as the old saying goes!

  15. The thing is the Canucks weren’t actually that bad, competitive in most games and lost a lot of close ones. Not clinical enough and too leaky. Now with some more depth pieces they might actually be a better unit, especially Rossi’s engine down the middle. Hopefully getting rid of some pending UFAs will have them some more picks/prospects and bobbing down the bottom of the standings for a high first but this team isn’t as bad as the standings show. If Demko had been in net in this form for a lot of those it would be a different story.

  16. Hughes is great at playing by himself. I got sick and tired of him trying to one man end to end when his mates were open and waiting for a pass. Kind of a puck whore. It's like watching EP40 struggle to hit the side of a barn.

  17. Make up your mind: either you want to win or you want to lose. Personally I want to win. The entire concept of tanking is stupid and childish. The point of sports is at least to try to win.
