  1. As excited as I am that we got Hughes, it really only moves us closer to being on par with the Avs and Stars in my view. They already have Makar and Heiskanen. I still wouldn't say we're definitely better than either team yet, plus who knows what any of these teams are still going to add closer to the trade deadline. Sure it'd be exciting if we made the WCF, but being realistic we at best only have about a 1 in 4 chance of making it (assuming an even 50% chance to win each of the first two rounds). I'm just going to enjoy watching the regular season for now, and then we'll see what happens come April.

  2. They may not be able to make trades during the Olympics but the GMs have a lot of time to make trade plans that get announced right after the Olympics.

  3. This whole conversation was dumb at best. They have almost no chance to get out of the first round. The roster is small, soft, weak, and inadequate

There are 2 steps to winning playoff hockey….

    1. Hurt the other team
    2. Win games
    In that order

Wild don't have the ability to do step 1 to get to step 2.

It's a roster of cowards and wimps

  4. One big thing Hughes does for this lineup is to eat plenty of left side D minutes so Brodin’s can be throttled enough to prevent reagrivating his lingering injury. Could be a critical factor down the stretch.

  5. Really impressive team performance. This was Bruins – dont think Pasta and Geekie suddenly cant do anything, but its almost like they were not on the ice.

  6. You have Middelton, Foligno, Brodin, Hartman, Trennin, EK, Yurov, who all are lunch pale guys who bring the boom.

  7. Longtime Skor fan – the chemistry here is better than main show. Keep breaking Judd’s chops. Also – still laughing about that edge off comment yesterday Judd.

  8. Lots of talk about systems but Hughes's hockey IQ is a constant adjustment to the system on a moment by moment basis. Pretty soon some of the fanbase is going to realize he's not quite a defenseman. He's a puck possession monster because he's in fact a rover and superstar rover at that.

  9. All this talk about needing guys with Stanley Cup experience… Isn't that what we brought Nico Sturm in for. Bogo has been there and win it. Why would Crozby who won 1 a decade ago make a difference. Hughes instantly adds to the scoring, no need for another scoring winger or center. Use what we have, worst case is the guys get great experience for next year's run.

  10. IDK if you trade Stramel. He's basically the exact player that Wild has needed forever. Big bodied, great at faceoffs, with a scoring touch.

  11. Patrik Laine!

Wild creates chances but does not score. With limited assets after the Hughes and Jiricek deals, a high-variance right-shot finisher who raises the ceiling would be great. Powerplay with 97, 12 and 43. Just need to wait like Ovechkin for a shot. Creates space for others.

Hartman is our best right handed forward…

  12. When you lock in your position, just tell the ref you decline all power plays, because you have to get used to winning when the refs put away their whistles in games 4-7. If I was Crosby, coming to the West to face McDavid and McKinnon, ya, I would take it so you can show that you are still the best.

  13. My expectation going into the season was top 8 team. Round 2 of playoffs. With Quinn, top 5.

  14. I would love to get Sidney Crosby for sure. But what about a guy who plays the role for us that Brad Marchand has played for Florida. He was on their third line but he made a HUGE difference. Is there a guy like that, a real agitator, who can really bother any opponent we play? I have watched hockey for 50-plus years and have seen time and time again how a guy like that can really make a difference. First there was Butch Goring for the Islanders. Later came Ken “The Rat” Linesman, who won a Cup with the Oilers. I don’t know who could fill that role for us, as Marchand isn’t going anywhere. But it really could help to get a guy like that if one exists.
