Welp, the Oilers finaly sent Stuart Skinner packing and it’s a pretty underwhelming trade for the cup contending Oilers lmao that and more in today’s NHL hockey video!
Skinner gets pulled more than my Pecker, my Pecker has more confidence than Skinner, my Pecker is never out of position, time will tell, I didn't like Kulak either, played too soft, when you have a netminder that doesn't make saves, that gets hit by the puck, you need a D that moves people
What most people don't realize is that Tristan was playing injured most of the previous two seasons. His recent good play is him playing healthy and he's also mentally grown since his kid was born.
Edmonton is getting the better goaltender in the trade. Is it worth the extra cost? Maybe not but Skinner is a UFA at the end of the season.
Maybe Dubas can flip Skinner for picks. I don't think Skinner or Silovs is the answer for the Pens. Maybe Murashov?
In my opinion Jarry can play well. The problem is consistency, which I feel is Skinner's problem as well. For quite some time, probably since Matt Murrary left, I have felt the biggest problem the Penguins have faced is goal tending. It has been an issue in my mind the last 2-3 seasons in particular. I don't feel like this trade fixes either teams problems in goal. On the other hand perhaps a change of scenery does both of them well, I hope so.
Media and fans "Oilers need to get a new goalie now!" Oilers get a new goalie. Media and facts "Why did the Oilers get a new goalie?!" I don't know who had a hall of famer available right now.
Not happy with this trade as an Oilers fan. Skinner wasnāt ALWAYS the problem. He got us to 2 Finals. And I loved how Kulak played! We didnāt get a good defenseman in return. I donāt like this trade at all but Iām willing to be wrong! Hope it works out in the long run
Well, ya missed the fact that Jarry has better numbers in a worse team, so odds are his numbers are only gonna get better with the Oilers in front of him
Tbh, I was hoping they would go for Arturs Silovs. In the 2024 playoffs he was the best Canuck on the ice versus the Oilers and last year he was the Calder Cup MVP as he back stopped them to the Abbotsford Canucks first ever Calder Cup
So now, instead of the Skinner and Silovs tandem in Edmonton, it can happen in Pittsburgh… I bet Skinner being on a proper tandem, his numbers will get better.
He was never meant to be the main goalie in Edmonton. Jack Campbell was a major bust and he was forced into it. He did it with class and never shyed away from the media, be it a win, loss or even game 7 loss. Stu will be super missed and I'm rooting for him in Pittsburgh!
Itās hard to know to what degree, if any, Tristan Jarry is an upgrade for the Oilers in net over Stu Skinner. That said: – Skinnerās 3-season US$7.8-million contract expires this June, with what I see as his play justifying a per-season cap of not more than US$3 million – Jarryās 5-season US$26.875-million contract expires in June 2028, giving the others potential stability and net not just beyond this coming June, but for two seasons after this one – finding goalies via free agency is a gamble, something the Leafs have learned over and over again so often since Felix Potvin (who they had drafted) had played for them in the 1990s, with Ilya Samsonov (because he had not received a qualifying offer from the Capitals team that had drafted and developed him before he was to hit unrestricted free agency for the first time in his NHL career) particularly bad during the 2023-24 season
I believe with the pens that we are maybe gonna let skinner go if does poorly, and possibility let Murashov and Blomqvist fight for the main spot in Pittsburgh
I love this trade to be honest. Both goalies needed a change and got it. Both got debute games last night and good old skinner almost fucked it up down 5-1 made crosby work for his money…..

I understand this trade is now old news lmao way she goes bubs

They should have taken Silvos when they had a chance
Jarry played with the Oilkings, so he knows Edmonton, won a Memorial Cup with the Oilkings

imagine how stu felt, he thought the other guy is going lol
Missed how kulak hasn't missed a single game as an oil….talk about consistent
Choosing jarry over binnington is actually diabolical
Pens walk away with the huge victory. No way Iād give up a two time cup goalie. Never . Protect him with defence ānurseā ,
It's about time they dumped Skinner. You can't win the Cup when your goalie spots the opposition 2 goals every game of the final round.
Jarry is no different.
This is the same club that traded 99 FFS.
Only thing Jarry is going to do is show all the oilers management that our defence is the problem and always has been
Yeah they shoulda nabbed Binnington
The oilers front office is hilariously bad

The Oilers might have just paid a 2nd and a defenseman for a downgrade
Yeahā¦ā¦ā¦thatās just dumb.
They still have #2!
traded a pilon for a pilon
Smart like tractorš

Skinner wasn't consistent enough. He didn't steal games.
Typical Dubas move…Oilers will be the next Leafs

former all star and he has a cup . ? skinner . nope
I was excited because I thought he canāt be worse. Then did some digging and saw it was pretty much same same fml
Oilers management has failed. Nothing new in oil country
They literally blew this team up. They tore the playoff run roster apart for no reason whatsoever ššš as an edmonton local, truly destroys me
This mf always has the worst takes SMH
without a top 5 goalie the oilers will have to pray for a hot goalie and no injuries to win 1 cup
with a top 5 goalie they could win several
Next video is what I am doing š
Binnington wouldāve been more appealing to me. But we needed a change.
You have a terrible take today. Not much of an upgrade ? Weird video
Skinner has gotten the oilers to 2 straight cups jarry ?
Doesnt binnington have Edmonton on his no trade list?
Skinner was the worst goalie of all time.
Bowman = Chiarelli 2.0
I think the Oilers stopped playing in front of Skinner, and they just needed a change in there tbh I donāt think this is any deeper than that
As a Blackhawks fan I can tell you this is what you get when Stan Bowman is your GM.
As a Pens fan who hates Jarry: Jarry is likely the better goalie. But I'm just so glad Jarry is gone.
