That sounds like some sort of half truth BS a politician would say. You kinda have to include Quebec in Sakic's point total. Though it is something that MacKinnon is on year 13 and Sakic was in actual Colorado for 13 years before retirement. So he's on about the same pace as Sakic

MacKinnon has 392 goals with the Avs. Joe Sakic scored 391 regular season goals for the Colorado Avalanche ONLY (since the team relocated from Quebec in 1995). His total NHL career regular season goal count for the entire Nordiques/Avalanche franchise was 625. LEARN THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POINTS AND GOALS.
