The Penguins once again surrendered a lead late in the third period and lost in a shootout, this time against the Anaheim Ducks. Patrick and Hunter begin the show with the good. The Penguins, for about 59 minutes and 43 seconds, played one of their best and most complete games of the season. They forechecked well, got scoring chances, saves, and defended their own zone and the neutral zone quite well. The Kid Line once again had a dominant performance – all good things, right? (0:00) Wrong. Then the Penguins surrendered a lead at the literal last possible second, causing them to head to overtime and then a shootout. They discuss what was the worst part: the tying goal with .01 seconds left in regulation, a powerless overtime power play, or yet another poor showing in the shootout? (12:39) With that out of the way, it is Wednesday once again, so it’s time to hand out the MVP award of the week as part of another Warrior Helmet Wednesday, and this time, it’s going to the man who has arguably been one of, if not the best, players on the team this year. (28:45)

65 and 58 on ice at the the end ?
Soo, I know the Ducks are good this year. But we keep taking our foot off the gas when we have a lead. Our goaltending isn't good enough to deal with that type of play. And Silovs stinks!
Letang has fallen to the player he is with age. And Karlsson has been walked in the final seconds by Barzal and Kucherov, only to be bailed out by Jarry in both instances. As good as the guy is with the puck, he's just bad without the puck. And that isn't going to change. The thing that concerns me about Muse … as a rookie coach, does he have the authority to not put Letang and Karlsson on the ice at the end of these games? I just wonder if he's worried about losing the locker room the way Mike Johnston lost the locker room if he starts "disrespecting" the stars.
I think the silovs trial needs to end. I really didn’t like any of the goals that he let in. He has really bad mechanics and makes himself tiny in net. Would rather see murashov or blomqvist as the second goalie
I just feel like the team is just old. How many games have we lost in last 5 mins?
Hunter you were on fire today and spot on on all of your takes…..The tying goal with less than one second left to me is definitely on rust and latang more than any other players, All they had to do at the very least is just make contact with that player I still don't know why Letang made a pivot to the left Don't get him at all
We needed defensive players.
Can't believe they blew this. You get an o-zone draw with 17 seconds left, on a POWER PLAY no less, and you somehow give up a rush and get scored on. Completely embarrassing, we'll take the point but absolutely inexcusable at the end. Did not like the personnel out there at all (especially the Letang/Karlsson pair) you gotta put your best defenders out there given the game situation! Hopefully we can move past this quickly with a win against Montreal tomorrow
This was down right embarrassing.. They better of left with bags over their heads.. I don’t see this team going far hate to say it.. But they been choking bad this season..
Karlsson and Letang are jokes on D but they shouldn't have even been out there. I blame Muse more than anyone. Also his reason for having them out there made no sense whatsoever. Someone should've literally just tackled the guy w the puck.
The reason Husso looked like Hasek and many random goalies against the Pens is that outside of Sid we have no high end shooting talent on this team
What is absolutely maddening is that this was the “response” to the blown lead against Dallas!! They should fire everyone on the ice for that goal into the sun!
I would have had Acciari, Dewar and Crosby out there along with Karlsson and Wotherspoon.
Just take the puck into the Anaheim corner and stand on top of it for 3 or 4 seconds and that’s it!!
Also I could be wrong but it didn’t look to me like it hit off of Karlsson’s glove, it looked like he literally pushed it into the net. I think he was trying to shuffle it to Silovs to cover up but Silovs was spread eagle in the crease for some reason like he was looking for a contact and it went right under him and into the net.
Those games where they've blown leads in the 3rd period and lost are going to come back to haunt them. Those 1 point(s) instead of the 2 will be crucial. And how does Washington year after year have a top team with guys no one knows of?
Literally, just take a dang penalty! Seconds left on the clock. You cannot let someone walk in on net! What in the actual hell did I watch last night.
If Letang just trips him it’s game over. They don’t have time if the pens just let the puck go to the boards and don’t touch it cause it would be a delayed call and no other duck was around it
I also put some blame on Silovs for that tying goal as well. He’s sprawled out like a damn starfish for what?! Stay in position. That is all he had to do. But he goes down and sprawls out. Just stay in the butterfly position with your pads covering the ice and stick down and you don’t let that puck go through your wide open legs. He was horrible again to me. He did okay in OT. But weak goals in regulation once again and sucks in shootout.
It's about time that they stop acting like Sid is a Selke candidate center. Of the four players who regularly center lines, Sid's line has given up the most 5v5 goals with 17 while averaging 16:24 TOI. Geno's line has given up 9 averaging 14:37, Kindel's line 7 averaging 13:04, and Lizotte's line 6 averaging 11:20.
On the road, Sid's line is, usually, getting matched against their better defensive lines. At home he's matched against weaker lines.
