Even if the canucks end up trading Quinn Hughes for a mountain of picks, the thng that will most likely happen next is Aquillini will force management to then trade those picks for win-now players to try and do just that; win now, even though they just traded the BEST PLAYER THE FRANCHISE EVER HAD
Been having conversations with Canucks fans and man it’s so bad rn the NMC on anyone of any value is significantly hurting their ability to do anything. Very bleak future for the Canucks
Crazy how blinded people can get by some short term numbers. Watch him play, he’s not very good lol. I’m sure the Canucks will do a disasterclass and sign him for like 8 mil only to watch him get 6 goals next year.

The Canucks are run worse than the Leafs…. Also, The Leafs will ALWAYS matter…. nobody cares about 15-20 of the teams in the NHL outside of their tiny fanbases

I'm surprised so many of my fellow Canuck fans want to keep Hughes. I love the guy but we simply will never win with him, the team is built completely wrong and honestly most nights we just suck and our roster construction is bad. We need to jettison probably 6-10 players and built an entirely new 1st line with new players because Petey is looking more like a 2nd line C from here on out. That is going to be basically impossible therefore let's just burn it all down, trade Quinn get 4-5 1st round picks over the next few years along with some young guys and try to get a lottery pick this year and next.
Should Canucks trade hughes? Depends what New Jersey wants to spend or a 3 team deal.

If Hughes re-signs with the Canucks he could pocket a potential $30m more than he could if he waited to sign after the new CBA

Canucks management will wait for trade deadline next year and wind up with a 2nd round der and a single prospect. The Vancouver Canucks are the only team in the NHL that WILL find a way to get nothing in a Quinn Hughes trade. The way its gone, our management will throw in OUR 1st rounder too, just for the hell of it.
right on Dangles, i really didnt like the Subban trade, but without a doubt Weber won me over, that toughness and intimidation factor he brought … and the excitement of that slapshot… but yeah really didnt like the management after that
Kiefer Sherwood is a destruction derby car in the form of a decent scoring hockey player.
Pk subban was traded also cause he fought physically at practice with team mates during practice and wasnt really a team player

It’s not clear yet whether Quinn Hughes wants to re-sign with the Canucks although:
– July 2026 is the earliest possible month during which he can sign a new NHL contract
– there has been significant evidence the Canucks, even with him under contract, are likely to miss their second straight postseason
– as much as the ownership group of the Canucks may want revenue from Canuck playoff games, that ownership group:
— has, since he was drafted, only overseen two playoff appearances, the more recent of them actually having resulted in games played at Rogers Arena as in 2020 all Western Conference teams that had qualified for that postseason had been all obliged to play all such games at Rogers Place, the home arena of the Oilers, with no fans allowed to attend, as otherwise Covid, which had been the time rampant across Canada, might otherwise have spread more widely
— does not appear likely to see another playoff appearance barring major changes, and so be it if Quinn Hughes must be traded to shake things up (what’s really the only question being whether he is traded to the Devils [to join his brothers Jack and Luke] or to a completely different NHL team than the Devils or Canucks)
0% Chance you're mad at a ~5Mil Forward who busts his ass on every shift, pots 15-20G/season and nearly 300 hits. I assume he's on special teams as well. That's the kind of player you want. Only downside is his age.
The Sharks will you the future late first round pick they’ll pick up of course this year plus a prospect. Done deal.

Who's willing to give a king's ransom for Hughes when they predict that he'll end up in New Jersey eventually? Even New Jersey doesn't need to trade for him when they think they'll be getting him for free…
I’m sure someone here is gonna say I’m crazy but hear me out. If the Pittsburgh Penguins are still in a playoff spot at Christmas and I’m Vancouver’s GM, as soon as the holiday roster freeze is up, I am on Kyle Dubois doorstep trying to make a trade happen and I ask for Karlson or Letang and a draft pick or 2 and I flip whichever one I get at the deadline to a contender and absolutely fleece them in the deal because someone will definitely overpay for that veteran experience that those guys would provide at the deadline.
Again, I know it sounds absolutely insane and that’s probably the reason I’m not a NHL GM, but that’s what I would attempt 1st and if I can’t get that done, then I find somebody else and just flat out fleece them
Hit tracking is very suspect in the NHL, we’ve all seen heavy hitting games only to have 15 total hits between the two teams. It used to be recorded by the home arena staff, definitely not impartial, I’m sure they use trackers on the players now but it’s still not a reliable source.

Every team now knows JRPA and the team are in trouble and each of the team will try best to lowball to get Hughes. I dont think JRPA can get the full value of Hughes if they do the trade now.
Devils send Mercer First round pick Second round pick next years 3rd Dougie Hamilton and Cassy for Quinn
Sherwood's next contract will be the next Pierre Engvall / Trent Frederic

I'm tired of watching Quinn Hughes mope around the ice. I don't care how bad this team is, get out there and lead them as the captain. The same lazy backchecks that Miller was crucified for, Quinn is now guilty of. So far this year, he hasn't looked anything close to his Norris self. I understand being frustrated playing on this terrible team. What I don't understand is checking out, especially when you wear the C.
