Matheson is disrespected he is worth 100x more than Slafkovsky whom I don't even like at all.Every single team in the league would sign him for more in a heartbeat. Yes it is possible he took less to remain a Hab and for his buddy Hughes but then why did we over pay Slafkovsky? Well the positive is that he is signed and playing where I am sure he is happy but he was worth 8 mil for sure.

I'd like to add that for me dobson , Hudson, Matheson, rienbacher , guhle, engstrom , carrier are the D men , I would convert arbor into a 4th line winger , a checking line with teeth and a 8th D man if your in a pinch !! Arbor could transition to wing , experts have said to me its 100 times easier for a D man to play forward than the opposit ! Now who am I shopping !? Evans , kapanen, struble , newhook, to name a few for me you won't win with ! Not a Stanley cup !
They need to bring the value up on the guys they’re planning to trade , that’s starting to make a lot of left handed centers .

What happens when newhook , Dach and Laine comeback? Are they gonna sit Dach and Laine to Finnish the season ? Cause they win way more without those two in the lineup

Even in 5 years the way he skates he should easily be a top 4 though even bottom 2 would be just fine. We've locked up the core significantly. Can't see Demigod signing for more than $9M per and when McDavid finally realizes he needs out of Edmonton we'll have more than enough money to sign him long term.
Question: do you trade carrier and add a first for Tage T? Then later when Engstrom is ready this year, another trade of Struble. Who has more value to other teams, Struble or Carrier?
Demidov @ 7x$9.5 or 7x$10 is still a steal (assuming he keeps going the way he is). And it starting in 2027 means it will be even more of a steal by then.
I would of liked to see this extension wait until the end of the season so we could see what Adam Engstrom could do. We have Guhle, if Engstrom can replace Matheson then we can keep our bottom 6 intact since we still have even more young players like Pickford who has the potential to play with the club in a few years.
I get Matheson is having a rebound year but he is 31 years old. I would of waited on that extension and see if Guhle can return and take his place on the top D line and have Engstrom move up the line up.
But now, someone in the bottom 6 has to move. Your going to have to sit players in the press box if Guhle can stay healthy and even then Engstrom is making the team next year. The Habs won't trade him, he is too valuable with his ability to play on the right side and his puck moving. You don't find players like this unless you draft them and develop them. Teams lock these players up long term and they never make it to free agency unless they get old. Xhekaj or Struble will be traded next year i forsee.

Can play in all special units ; a terrific faceoff player and ; he's relatively young.
Would it be too much to pay to see Guhle and Kapanen against Horvat and a 3rd pick ?
