In the latest game, the Canadiens were defeated 5–1 by the Kings at the Bell Centre. The Kings struck with three quick goals early in the second period—goals by Joel Edmundson, Quinton Byfield and Matthew Fiala within 4:05 of each other — and that essentially put the game out of reach. Edmundson tied the game early in the second on a powerful one-timer (his shot was the hardest recorded on a goal this NHL season!). Byfield and Fiala followed immediately to give LA the lead. Then, in the third, Edmundson’s teammate Joel Armia forced a turnover and scored, and the Kings then added an empty‐net goal by Warren Foegele to seal it. On the Canadiens’ side, Josh Anderson had given Montreal an early lead in the first, and goalie Sam Montembeault made 21 saves—but the defensive breakdown in the 2nd and neutral‐zone turnovers in the 3rd hurt them. Meanwhile the Kings’ goalie Darcy Kuemper also made 21 saves and benefited from his team’s surge. The Canadiens’ six-game point streak ended.

Monty fumbling on two goals, 2-3 missed calls that would have gave more powerplay time to the habs.
Kuemper on the other side stopping every chance and plays, he deserved his praises last night. I think this game could have easily been 2-2 on the 3rd but hey it happens.

Well, Montreal has lost like 8 games in a row against LA. Whatever it is that LA has, Montreal has never been able to deal with it. Yes, they are a different team this year, but Canadiens still haven't figured out the way to beat the Kings. Maybe they should study some Oilers playoff tapes or something. Either way, it only the first bad game they have played this year. There will probably be more at some point. (Hopefully not many, though)
