  1. The Mets lost $350 million last year, they need to keep all of their top prospects because a salary cap is coming after 2026 and they will need those prospects. I don't agree that Mclean is not a number one starter.

  2. One top starting pitcher is fine. Look at the bullpen… that's where we need volume

  3. Pirates are going to trade Skenes this year….so don't get your hopes up. He won't be on the trade market for another 2 years at least. Skubal is a rental and scares me with injuries even if you do manage to sign him. Go after Suarez. Get an Alonso deal done. If you can't get Diaz, bring Helsley back for hopefully cheap.

They can give Alonso more than 6/180. I'd say the highest would be 6/200. In the grand scheme of things is 20 million over 6 years going to break Cohen, no. That's like pocket change for him. But I think 6/200 is the line. Alonso can be the full time 1B for the next 2-3 years… then next 2-3 part time 1B and DH (unless he somehow becomes a gold glove 1B.)

  4. I have a prediction for you. Mark this down. Unless the Mets trade him or he gets injured, Jonathan Santucci will make the top 100 prospect list and may wind up being their best pitching prospect once McClean is on the big-league club. He will be the replacement when David Peterson leaves next year.

  5. While I think Sal's take it or leave it stance w/ Pete is really silly, I do feel like the best case scenario for the Mets offseason is trade for Skubal, sign Suarez, re-sign Alonso and re-sign Diaz.

  6. If we offer Pete 6/$180 and he doesnt accept it, its time to move on. That would be a hell of a deal for him.
