Hindsight when the old guys like Forbort(is gone) and maybe Myers is gone, both Willander and Mancini will get there places it's obvious!
I still would not make the trade. Tom Willander in the next few years will be a stud.
Willander didn't make the team yet nut personally I think he will be on the top pair within 2-3 years with Hughes (knock on wood that he stays) because I think their games could really compliment each other. The left side of the defence is set if Hughes extends. Hronek is the only one on the right that's currently in the first team. I think in a few months one of Willander and Mancini will have taken the place from Forbort and with Myers being older, by as early as next season, I could see both of them being in the starting lineup. While trading for Rossi would've been good for the current lineup, it would've created a shortage of RD in the future. Also Chytil looks like a decent 2C and Cootes could become a really good 2C.
A likely future top pairing d man for a center who projects upto and not any better than a second line c moving forward? Uhm, no.
It's also a good thing for the Canucks that Minnesota was getting a wee bit greedy with their asking price.😅
There’s no way Canucks said no to either of these trades. 15th overall pick, raty and Silovs. That would have been a steal. We’d have Pettersson, chytl Rossi blueger/sasson . Rossi is who we hope cootes can turn into. I’m stoked on cootes but we hope he’s Rossi in 4 years when he’s 22.
