Skindaddy just needs someone who can share his burden. He’s not as bad as his detractors make him out to be (better than John Gibson) and he’s not as good as the folks who say he can take us back to the finals think he is.
Ingram will get a shot soon. Next year we’ll make a big play for a big name for big money and it will either be a smashing success or a crashing failure.

Skinner just dug the hole he's in a bit deeper. He has until Christmas to prove to everyone he has thrown the shovel away. We can't limp into the playoff again this year. The Oilers should be dominant, even with average play from Skinner and Pickard.

a reporter dug deeper and asked Knoblauch ' wasn't Skinner's mistake at 3-3 a punch in the gut which changes the whole game', and Knoblauch more or less agreed, stating we should be able to bounce back. However, Skinner is always making big 'punch in the gut' mistakes. It doesn't matter if after a huge mistake he plays well. He CHANGES games.
Stuart Skinner has never made a money save at a critical point in the game and then shut the door. Grant Fuhr would let a few in but would make that 1 save in the game when its needed. Skinner should go join Jack Campbell because he's never gonna do it for the Oilers. The whole world knows the Oilers need a goalie and I suggest that they solve the problem. I'd hate to McDavid waste 12 years as an Oiler and come up empty. They dont do something and in 2 years he will be a history lesson and the Oilers will become the Maple Leafs of the west

Goaltending has been streaky even with the Oilers’ having made consecutive Stanley Cup finals. No Canadian team has, from the 2011-12 season onward, made it as far as the Oilers aside from the Habs.

Both Skinner and Pickard are problems. Both goalies ranked 70th or lower amongst goalies playing atleast 1 game in the NHL in goals saved above expected. Oilers just need an average goalie ranked 16th of the 32 goalies. It's not a big ask
As far as whose fault it was- 100% Skinner. It's not on Bouchard at all. If Skinner had no play, cover it. Simple. You are also looking at GAA, Wins, Save %- all team stats, not goalie. Goals saved above expected is the true measure of a goalie
One admitted gaff on the 3rd GA & you are gaslighting the echo chamber of Stu haters after Game 1 of an 82-game season ? No mention of the numerous saves that kept the floundering Oilers in that game including going 6/8 in the SO ? You DO realize the game wasn’t decided early in the 3rd right ? That was a game-tying goal with plenty of game remaining. The TEAM didn’t score a go-ahead goal after the gaff GA. But the entirety of focus has to be on Stu ? Really ? It’s people like you that perpetuate the constant non-objective & narrowly-focused negativity. Some day, consider being an ACTUAL fan of the game & the team.

Skinner is the ONLY player in the entire NHL that can stop McDavid & Drai from winning a cup!!! That's how special he is. So technically, he's the best player in the world due to the impact he has on his team. He's the best secret 6th man for the other team and his name should be added to the 2024 & 2025 Stanley cup since he did a fabulous job helping the Panthers win the cup LOL
Stu is a he'll of a team guy and is well liked but….. It's so obvious that the team has little to no confidence playing in front of him… this is the biggest problem. Get Ingram into the lineup asap

You are all freaking out over one game lol. Skinner and Bouchard just had a miscommunication that’s it. Skinner saved every shot he faced two goals we’re lucky bounces and one should have not counted at all. This hate for Stu needs to end. Oilers fans love to chase goalies away Scrivens , Talbot , MK , Smith and now you want to chase Skinner out of the net for who Ingram a guy that hasn’t been good for Hart a guy that hasn’t played in a year. It’s been one game in the new season and you all are freaking out. Chill out my god.

I like Skinner and Pickard, but to me they both aren't starters. At least not yet. I think either of them would be fine as the back up but we need a good starter that is consistently good. I don't think the Oilers are going to win a stanley cup until we get strong consistent goaltending.
You’re not piling on man, you’re being honest. It’s actually refreshing to not hear an Oilers commentator gaslight the fanbase trying to pretend we don’t have eyes to see what’s going on between the pipes.
Bottom line is 99% of the time Stu is the second best goaltender on the ice and that’s on management at this point.
He is not a starter never will be, the team dont trust him rhe fans dont trust him he needs to go its getting beyond ugly!

After ONE GAME???…1st Goal was a Own Goal Deflection…(They happen to every team)….2 nd Goal SHOULD HAVE BEEN WAVED OFF!!!…..3rd Goal was yet ANOTHER BOUCHARD BRAIN FART,,,,,,Stuey gave up as many goals as Wolf did. They BOTH went to the 8th Round of a Shootout….Take a DEEEEP Breath and relax….81 MORE GAMES TO GO.

From my perspective (a guy who never believed Skinner was NHL material), it's just astounding that this guy, who so many fans call elite and treat as if a legend, ever got into a starter position, even on a team of fools who ran Koskinen out to get Campbell. Pretending Stu Skinner is even half decent, cost a Cup 2 season ago, and it just keeps costing.
Zero confidence that we are winning a cup with either of Stu or Picks. We all know what Connor was talking about postgame after they lost in game 6 plain and simple average is not good enough anymore if your talking about goaltending or any position average is not good enough anymore
If Skinner doesn't take a huge step forward this seasom, he's gotta be done. On the strength of this last game that looks unlikely, but it's not impossible.
With McDavid's new contract, Ekholm signig ofr less money, and the cap set to rise substantially next season, the Oilers would be in a position to spend real money on a new goalie if one is available. Not ideal for this season, but at least there's a way forward.

if Bouchard veers off and leaves Skinner face-to-face with that Flame, Oilers fans would reign boos down on him. fact is, Skinner had his stick blade between the puck and Bouchard, he was signaling to Bouch that he was going to do the logical thing…freeze the puck. nobody in their right mind would do anything but that, in that situation; just freeze the puck. go to a knee and put your glove on top of it, take the whistle and the faceoff. everyone in the building knows that is the correct play. but Calgary is hungry for blood, they can smell Skinner's non-confidence in himself, like a shark smells blood in the water. the Flames were just watching for Stu to make a mistake, and waiting to pounce. and on this simple play, what happens? Stu's brain just…stops working. he just…stands there and lets them score. he had the damn puck! why would he let them shoot it on him? Stuart Skinner is likely a really nice guy, but I cannot understand the things he does on the ice, they are unfathomable. Stu, as a goalie, will more than likely always be the goalie you see now. wish him well, give him a hearty handshake, and move on from him ASAP.
I know it’s one game….. but stu is stu….the little things matter playoffs or regular season…. Trust factor is huge.

Hey, Stu could be a #1 by quality plays (which is wrong as i mentioned a quality goaltender is measured by the mistakes he doesn’t make), but the lack of confidence he shows to his teammates makes him being a #2-3 goalie. The poor defense of EDM is largely caused by the mental charge they feel not trusting their goalie…
Put a proven #1 in goal and EDM is the biggest favorite for the cup…
