  1. Here are the top 10 reasons why I think the Wings will make playoffs:

    We are starting this season…

    1. With the best coach we’ve had in years
    2. With the best goalie we’ve had in years
    3. With the best power play we’ve had in years
    4. With the most motivated GM to make the team better we’ve had in years
    5. With the best Top D pair we’ve had in years
    6. With 3 new good players ( Kasper, Johanssen, Söderblom )
    7. With 5 more good players coming up as rookies ( Mazur, ASP, Danielsson, MBN, Finnie )
    8. With 5 less shitty players ( Veleno, Tarasenko, Petry, Holl, Gus )
    9. With a great 3C in Copp
    10. With tons of cap space

  2. Lucas has to this point shown nothing in the way of leadership. Raymond doesn't lead on the ice on his line – Larkin does. Raymond doesn't lead on the ice during the power play – Kane and Larkin do. He doesn't lead in the locker room so far as we know. We've seen and heard nothing indicating he leads in practices – and in fact in a video drill from last year's training camp it was noticeable on a drill going from line to line that Lucas was lollygagging while Kane was going all out. And Ray's interactions w the refs are that of a young player known early on for diving and complaining. Hardly familiar or respectful either way.

Why exactly is he wearing the A, again? Bc he's signed for a long time and scores a lot of points?

Stripping the A from Kane in this scenario is one of the most shameful embarrassing things you will ever see a coach do. McLellan is a small timey coach who has never won anything, ditto for Yawney. And we start to understand why. Real coaches and programs make players earn letters, they don't hand them out to match contracts. And real coaches and programs do not disrespect a player like Kane in that way when he has been nothing but a good soldier for the Wings for 3 years while they are lost in the wilderness. When Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider held out all summer as RFAs and missed the start of camp, Kane was re-signing without testing free agency, spurning multi-year deals from much better teams.

Disgusting and an embarrassment for the Red Wings franchise, which was once so proud.

  3. The key player this year is Kasper. If he progresses steadily, the Wings make the playoffs.

  4. Can't wait for this season to start even if it doesn't go perfectly. I'm more optimistic with the youth even though there will be some growing pains and all three might not make it all 82 games. Better than veteran mistakes plus Danielson could be ready to step up at some point should one not pan out yet.

  5. Thats exactly how agents negotiate in the NFL. U 10000% look at the market when getting a new contract. Mcdavid taking a team friendly deal will most definitely affect other contracts for stars

  6. Happy to see Mo getting a position of importance. It solidifies his efforts as being worthy of this

  7. It's pretty common practice to rotate Alternate captains for home and road games.

When Yzerman played I seen the A on
    Lidstrom
    Shanahan
    Fedorov
McCarty (and I'm sure others if I did more research, that was just by memory)

  8. On Walman, I wonder if Seider and/or Raymond really disliked him. The wings were trying to re-sign those players when he got traded. Stevie Y takes the hit to cover for his guys.

  9. How does, I wonder, McDavid's off-the-ice revenue for marketing/endorsements etc compare to staying in Edmonton as compared to if he leaves to play in a major U.S. market like the Rangers, Kings, or even Black Hawks. For that matter, how about the off-ice revenue of being in Toronto?

  10. After Larkin moves on to pasture, the next C will be Raymond or Seider. Good call – most likely Seider, but Raymond is still developing so we'll see.

  11. If Walman is being a problem child in the room, you get rid of the problem, not *everyone else*, and if a guy in Atlanta (like me) hears from dozens of others that Walman was a problem, maybe it's time to stop being upset about the trade and move on. Yeah, we could've used Walman last year, and we could've used that second rounder, but cancer removal isn't cheap. I wish him the best in Edmonton, but I'd rather not have a guy picking fights in the room, and if sending him off with a pick is what really needed to be done, so be it.

  12. Tom Brady took paycuts for a long time to build a team, Crosby has been taking 8.7 forever. This is what top players who want to win do. Leave a chunk of money on the table to build a team.

  13. Can we stop blaming yzerman for the walman trade, why do you think it was such a bad trade. Something happened behind the scenes, and yzerman is being mature about it and not airing any grievances to the public. It’s Walman’s fault NOT yzerman’s
