  1. I say give Steve 2 more years so that the young guys can be brought up , now if these picks are busts then u cut ties with Steve
But besides the walhman trade he’s done a good job , he hit on Raymon who arguably could be the best so he got lucky that he didn’t have number 1 in that draft and also the mo seider pick as well
Let his drafts get some playing time in the nhl then we got from there

  2. Lombardi is a sleeper. He had like 100+ points in 40 games in with the flint Firebirds before he was drafted and he doubled his point total from his 1st season in grand rapids.

  3. The DRWs have the best prospect group and they will be up with the big team very soon. But, what will be done with the older, over paid, and under performing players blocking the path of these prospects. SteveY could sit them in the press box and eat their high salary. He could afford to because the young prospects will only be making the minimum salary. Or just put them on waivers and give them away- like he did with Tarasenko.

  4. Not worried about Danielson at all. Absolutely dominated the prospects camp and had solid moments during the Red & White game. Expect him to take a step in year two in GR and really solidify himself as a full time member of the Wings in 2026-2027. I think he can be a solid 2C at the NHL level, but even if he only becomes a top tier 3C that’s still extremely valuable as every contender needs one of those more times than not. Having Larkin, Kasper, and Danielson down the middle for 4-6+ years is part of what looks to be a very promising future for Detroit.

  5. Yzerman is building a championship contending team that will be a juggernaut again…

His drafting has been very impressive.

Walman thing was handled poorly, and his veteran signings has been average to poor, but not too many stars have been wanting to sign with the team in rebuild mode.

Also, good management of the cap.

  6. Just want to point out that Rasmussen was also drafted 9th overall, and rated lower. If Danielson could be another bottom 6 gritty forward with a lot of upside, then sure, we have plenty of other prospects willing to fill out the top 6/top 9.

  7. Worried about Danielson? It was his first year pro. Lombardi is a 2nd(3rd) year pro.. but, put it this way.. Danielson had more points in his first pro season than Lombardi's first (full) season. Not that straight points are everything either.. what are you talking about people are concerned about him?

  8. If Finnie and Lombardi can establish themselves as NHL players that shores up a major criticism I've had of Yzerman's drafting: lack of productive players outside the first round.
