On October 6, the Wild will trade Kirill Kaprizov along with David Spacek to the Devils for Ondrej Palat, Brett Pesce, Ethan Edwards, Josh Filmon, and 2026 and 2027 5th-rounders.
I LOVE Kaprizov but I had to double check when I heard they offered 16M a year for 8 years… He's not that guy. He is a Winger in an oversaturated market for wingers. Just to show how bad the market is, they have the Flyers as the 6th most likely spot for him and no. No one will be trading for him as Next year the Winger Market will have plenty of options
So I think some Wild fans (and some Oilers fans for McDavid) are looking at this like intimacy after marriage, all begging, regret, and no pleasure (newlyweds, even year 2 doesn't count). We'll see.
After listening to your show, I have some food for thought, to begin with
Kaprizov has a no trade contract, he's not going to agree to a trade period,
Minnesota has one year to show him
That this team can win the CUP, Kaprizov is the best left wing in the NHL, he's absolutely in control of his destiny, I think tomorrow he's going say exactly that, Minnesota has one year to show him, he wants to win now, and with the infusion of talent coming on board this year,

Kaprizov did the Wild a favor by saying no. The team just got out from under two foolish decade long contracts that crippled their ability to be competitive in the NHL and they immediately try to jump right back in that pool by offering another foolish, foolish contract? I've lost faith in Guerin over this. He needs to go. No team wants a fool at GM.

The guy has only broke 100 points once in his career. Lol. He's worth like 12 maybe.
Trade him asap for best return possible. He's not worth more then Drai in any universe, money or percentage wise. Drai's contract will take 14.5% of the Oilers cap first year, Kap's offer is at 15.5% first year.
That's a top 3 CENTER good for playing on average >95% of games per season at 1.5ppg vs an injury prone WINGER, that I would say it's very arguable he's top 10 in the league, that is lucky to play 75% of the time at 1.25ppg.
He either needs to fire his agent or be traded period. The Wild need to fire BG, OCL needs to keep his mouth shut, and Kapriz shouldn't be offered more then 12×5.
Kucherov should give him a call and talk some sense into him. Do you think Kuch will ask for $16m? He’s actually worth it. Does Kirill want to be the star of a middling team for his entire career?
