Best case scenario – 1. Buium shows signs hes a top 4 defenseman in the NHL this year in camp, makes the team and has a better season than Albert Johansson did last year as a rookie. 2. Albert Johansson continues to improve and proves to be a solid top 4 option that can play both LD/RD. 3. Kasper improves and shows he's a legit top line center in the NHL and his offense surprises. 4. Mazur has an excellent camp and lacking any better options the coaching staff inserts him on line 1 and he ends up being an even better option than Bertuzzi for Larkin and Raymond scoring 50+ points his rookie season in the NHL. 5. Larkin and Raymond's point totals increase with their new winger working hard in the corners and the #1 line outproduces opponents all season. 6. Soderblom proves hes a legit NHL player, learns to play in front of the net from JVR and begins to produce offensively in a bottom 6 role 40+points. 7. JBD proves why he was a 1st round draft pick and his skating, attitude and physical play endear him to fans. The wings resign him halfway through the season and he's a top 4 defenseman in the NHL that can move the puck and play PK. allowing Edvinsson to play with Seider with the combination of Buium, JBD and AlJo proving they are top 4 Dmen in the NHL. 8. Edvinsson signs an 8 year contract with a smaller cap hit than Seider. 9. Kasper signs an 8 year contract with a smaller cap hit than Debrincat. 10. With the youth movement in camp the wings are able to trade Ben Chariot at the close of camp for a draft pick. 11. John Gibson returns to form and is around .915-.925 save percentage and free of injuries. 12. Cossa tightens up and begins to show he really is the goalie of the future for the wings in his final season in GR. 13. there are SO many more things that really could go and very well may go well for instance Lombardi somehow getting minutes for the big club and proving he is a bona fide NHL player this year, but I'm trying to stick to our current team and some hopeful scenarios but I'll finish up with some wishful thinking…14. Kyle Conner only wants to play in Detroit and Winnepeg unable to resign him, other teams unwilling to pay more than a rental for him, Detroit is able to pick him up and extend him at the trade deadline for barely more than Yzerman paid to acquire Debrincat. and a veteran defenseman falls into Yzermans lap at the trade deadline to fill out and solidify our d-core heading into the playoffs because no matter who we play in the first round its going to be one of the better teams in the NHL because thats the division we play in..so…..best case scenario 15. Detroit has a fantastic season, the youth develop and show signs of being special NHL players AND the Wings WIN a first round playoff series gaining valuable experience for this team in years ahead and belief returns to Hockey Town baby!! ~ LGRW!!
Does this team want to make the playoffs? Then everybody on the team has to step up to the plate and play better, not just a couple of people. Everyone invested in a common goal.
We shall see.
I think the most important thing might be Larkin's health. Their big losing streaks are usually while Larkin is injured.
Wings need a reliable goalie! I pray Gibson is that!
I think all the replacement level players are insurance against the upcoming stars not being there. Seems like several are on the doorstep
