Part 2 of my Vancouver Canucks 2024–25 season preview is here, and this time we’re diving into the defence. Can Quinn Hughes actually hit the 100-point mark? Is this blue line finally a strength instead of a weakness? And will the combination of Hughes, a deeper defence core, and Thatcher Demko in net be enough to carry the Canucks into the playoffs?

I think Demko should play 2 games to Lankys 1 game. After all, Demko is getting paid more than Lanky, doesn't seem right have them both play the same amount of games.
Honestly, was watching a guy talk about how marcus can be super offensive if given the chance and having hronek on his pair could lead to 2 dominant blue lines
This can also result is taking pressure off and limitting his minutes.
Bro, 30 goals from Myers would be incredible. 😂
Your ex never won the Norris. Good call
2:40 ☠️💀☠️
Coaching staff is definitely my biggest concern aswell! Excited to hear your thoughts it next video
Partly why I think Hronek hasn't gotten 10+ goals in a season is due to how inaccurate that shot can be. Add to the fact that Hughes, last season, decided to dash in solo more times than I've ever seen him throughout his career up to last season goes to show that Hughes didn't feel like he could trust his teammates to make the best play. I hope that changes this upcoming season, resulting in more offensive contributions from the rest of the team.
7:39 The D- whisperers is insane 😵 😂
Totally agree. 1 game Demko. 1 game Lankinen. Repeat.
I dont think the canucks should trade any of there young d in a few years when Wallinder, Mancini and D-petey are ready to be top 4
Do you think they should continue moving hronek for offensive help
Also ppl didnt like the fact they traded 1st round pick for mp3
Hughes Hronek
M. Pettersson Myers
Forbort E. Pettersson
Mancini
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Trading Mancini and keeping Myers would be extremely short sighted
2:41 best Canucks YouTube channel and it isn’t close
Demko wants to secure the olympic spot for Team USA, so he will be really motivated-
I could see willander or dpetey really showing off their skills durring the pre-season
Love the Marcus Pettersson comps
Maybe one of the best Dcores we have ever had. Esp if one of Mancini, Dpetey, or Willander develop into a possible top 4 candidate in case we want to bump down Myers. It all comes down to the forwards tho. Even if they make the playoffs can they compete with Edm or VGK with that top 6.
my favourite goal tending tandem was maclean and whitmore. went to game 7 of the final and they never got blown out like luongo did in 2011. THE SAVE of game 7 in O/T against the flames is still maclean's finest moment and one of the canuck's finest playoff moments.
If the Canucks can stay healthy they'll win the cup! Don't @ me. 😅
Digging the channel man… Clear perspectives for sure… Keep It up 😊
Oh yeah and goooo Canucks… Can't wait for hockey to start… Happy we got the Blue Jays in the meantime 🎉
the bottom 4 defenders weren’t the main reason last season was horrible, did it contribute to game losses? Yes, many times the boys were up 2 and just crumbled. I would say the main reasons for the disappointment last season, was the top fowards not meeting expectations and the drama of Ep40 v JT miller. The canucks had to rely on Sherwood, garland and suter, scrappy players that stepped up when needed and they were the big contribution to 91 points; that and Hughes of course. We can’t forget that multiple injuries was another big contributor to the failings. And also the fact that the boys just couldn’t start on time. Some of the worst 1st period hockey from the canucks this previous season. And the 3rd period scramble was not enough to make those big comebacks. And if the comebacks did happen, it resulted in many overtime games; most of which they ended up losing.
Defense alone will not help the canucks get to the playoffs as much as one wants it. It is pertinent for the team to get lots of goals and to stay healthy. That means we must watch for Petey, chytil, boeser, Debrusk, and Evander to put up big points. With some much needed depth from the bottom 6. They need to stay healthy, And demko needs to comeback to form.
2:41 is exactly why i love you blueline
I agree with the vast majority of this, mate. Paricularily keeping the top D pairing together, and limiting Thatcher "Bubble Wrap" Demko's crease time.
Go 'Nucks and Habs!
Hronek's point shot is indeed powerful. Unfortunately, he appears to be incapable of actually putting it on net. If there is anything any player on this roster could greatly improve upon, it is Filip's shot accuracy.
Trauma dump???
Dude, love your work. This is summer and you're producing quality air time every time. I almost didn't click on this video, the title threw me off somehow. Looked like it was just speculation about Hughes scoring 100 pts, I guess. I am glad I did click. Always glad to hear you out. Like I said once before, you are my hockey writing spirit brother! So I've got a gift for you. I used to run a university news room and have a bit of a talent for generating story ideas. Here ya go. Cheers… SK
The dog days of summer list:
– Best Canucks backup ever – Lankinen makes it current but Schneider probably gets the nod
– Most feared Canuck of the modern era: Evander Kane makes it current and maaybe tops this list; either Zardorov or Tryamkin might win it; Sherwood deserves honourable mention; could ramble on about Schenn, MacEwen, Kassian, Bieksa, Sestito, heck even Byron Bitz was a bit of a terror… but if we go back as far as 2010 then Rick Rypien of course owns this honour hands down
– Our fallen heroes… summer is a great time to honour Rypien, Bourdon, Gino, Pat Quinn…
– Most exciting Canucks line of the modern era
– Most defensive Canucks line of the modern era
– How Are They Doing? The once-upon-a-time fan favourites, the under-hyped, the over-hyped… Gustav Forsling, Jack Rathbone, Michael DiPietro, Jonah Gadjovich, Olli Juolevi, Kole Lind, Jake Virtanen, Jared McCann (did he get traded for being Jake's friend?), Nikita Tryamkin, Hunter Shinkaruk, Vasily Podkolzin, Hunter Brzustewicz, Zack MacEwen, Tyler Motte
Awesome video, as usual.
