Nate Danielson szn? What prospects are flying under the radar to make the Detroit Red Wings roster?

The Red Wings pipeline is flush with NHL talent, and many of these prospects now live in Grand Rapids — A short 2.5 hours from Detroit. Which prospects are flying under the radar to make the leap to the Red Wings? High profile prospects like Danielson, Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Sebastian Cossa are being clamored for by Red Wings fans, yet their path here is paved with beating out NHL vets for big minutes. Meanwhile more lowkey prospects like Shai Buium, William Wallinder and Amadeus Lombardi also show signs of NHL readiness, will their path to a likely lower-in-the-lineup spot make them sneaky favorites to push a veteran out sooner? #LGRW

  1. The prospects I hope to see graduate from G.R. a year from now are Nate Danielson, ASP, Sebastian Cossa, Amadeus Lombardi, and Carter Mazur. Those prospects I expect to all graduate from G.R. and become full-time Detroit Red Wings at the start of the 2026-2027 season. I definitely could see Shia Buium and William Wallinder become full-time Red Wings in 2026-2027 as well. Dark horse candidates I could see compete for a job are MBN and Dmitri Buchelnikov.
Hopefully Kyle Connor becomes an UFA and joins the Wings. I also could see Yzerman trading J.T. Compher to Colorado while retaining his contract. If all of this comes to fruition, my projected 2026-2027 line-up would look like this:

    Connor Larkin Raymond
    DeBrincat Kasper Kane
    Lombardi Danielson Mazur
    Soderblom Copp Appleton
    Rasmussen

    Johansson Seider
    Edvidsson ASP
    Buium JBD
    Wallinder

    Gibson
    Cossa

  2. Ppl underrate Danielsons offense so much. He literally matched the point totals that Kasper put up the year prior without the luxury of playing with Berrgen or Lombardi/Mazur who missed most of the season. Instead he was forced to bounce passes off of the Austin watson stick most of the ahl season.
Hopefully the coaching staff gives him every opportunity possible to skate with Larkin/ Raymond and between cat and Kane thru camp and preseason

  3. I hope 2-3 young players make the jump to the team this year.
Sens & habs are betting on young players & it's paying off.
Mazur, Danielson & MNB have the best chance, personal opinion.
ASP needs to put on weight & improve his defensive game, Cossa looked nervous & his positional play is weak… if Cossa improves his positional play he will get NHL time at some point this season

  4. On the bottom 6, next year is going to look a lot different than this years look. The guys that did not improve on last year and do not do better this year will be gone for picks. This includes the 1 year contract players and those whose contract is up this year. So, 5-6 offensive and 3-4 defensive players will be gone. A whole new look with young players.
