2. Devils Ink Bordeleau: The Dirty Deal You Need to Know!

In a shady move, the New Jersey Devils have signed forward Thomas Bordeleau to a one-year, two-way contract. This sneaky deal is worth $775,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the AHL level, with a measly $125,000 guaranteed. The announcement was made by the dodgy duo, President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon. Bordeleau, a 23-year-old restricted free agent, was traded from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Shane Bowers. He’s a small fry at 5-foot-10, 180 pounds, but he’s got some points under his belt with 107 career points in the AHL. His NHL debut was with the Sharks, and he’s played in 44 career NHL games. Before turning pro, he shredded it up in the NCAA at the University of Michigan, where he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Born in Houston, Texas, he was drafted by San Jose in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft. He’s got some international experience too, representing Team USA at the World Junior Championship and World Championship. Bordeleau was teammates with current Devils’ defenseman Luke Hughes and New Jersey prospect Ethan Edwards at Michigan. He’s the son of former NHLer Sebastien Bordeleau. Bowers, the guy they traded away, played 12 games with New Jersey and had 31 points in the AHL. This deal is a real kick in the nuts for the Sharks, but the Devils are laughing all the way to the bank. Stay tuned for more dirty deals and backroom shenanigans in the world of hockey.
