That's hardly unexpected. Gretzky put up numbers while Messier won Stanley Cups. Crosby was great every year, but the Penguins won Cups when Malkin actually chose to show up. Stamkos was the cat's meow, but it was Kucherov when the Cup was within reach. Kane was excellent, but he would not have gone very far without Toews. The superstar always needs a sidekick who actually does more, and leads instead of just being a primadonna. Boston had a bunch of primadonnas, but they also had Marchand. And the Panthers are a team composed entirely of sidekicks: the results are before us.
The best thing the Oilers could do right now if they want anyone's respect is trade McDavid and get some proper support for Draisaitl. The other way around wouldn't work: McDavid is no leader: he's a primadonna. Keeping them together on the same team obviously doesn't work either: their contracts are just too big, and the rest of the team is kind of resentful of that.
Barkovs a better all around player
ya… so here is some coaching 101…. when the entire opposing team is concentrated on stopping your star, it opens things up for your #2. lol how do you not know this
Anyone with a brain knows the media is full of sht and doesn’t care because the media is LITERALLY A PROPAGANDA MACHINE
Thank you for opening my eyes to Leon
maybe leon should have gone 1st but ekblad and reinhart certainly aren’t busts and im glad he went to edmonton!
Then why did he get outplayed and lose?
McDavid assisted on most of Drai's goals, and they scored the same amount of points in the playoffs this year. They need each other.
Leon is a superstar as a Oiler ..
Unless McDavid signs a team-friendly extension then they should be preparing for the Draisaitl era after McDavid walks away from the team. Sign Mitch Marner instead of Evan Bouchard as a top line winger to play with Leon Draisaitl. Leon still doesn't even have legit line mates to play with yet 5 on 5.
After McDavid walks next summer the Oilers can also buy out Darnell Nurse at the same time and just eat the loss. Cap goes up then and there'll be some money to actually build a better defense that can compete with Florida again in the future if it's spent wisely.
Florida is going to 3-peat anyway as it stands right now with the current rosters. Changing a couple forwards isn't enough when you're overmatched at 18 of 20 positions but the Oilers still have a few years to retool and win with Draisaitl as "the guy" once Florida isn't as good at some point.
Florida right now is just miles above the rest of the league. They are going to have to get older, have some injured guys, or lose some key guys to free agency. The time for other teams to win is not now and the window to win is closed until Florida comes back down a notch.
He does needs him without Mcjesus he is noting
You forgot to mention he’s great on the faceoff meanwhile Mcdavid …
Barkovs own McOverrated and DraOverPaid
sounds like AI narration
He turns the puck over half the time cannot skate cannot play physical cannot get the puck pass the blue line by himself he is garbage
Drai is not a complete hockey player. His work ethos without the puck and to the defensive direction is just sub averege. He has to do occasional magic in scorin to justify playing in NHL, that is the least thing to do.
To be truely at a top level would mean at least decent two way playing and showing that he cares more for the team success than his own scoring. So far he has done nothing even remotely like that.
Go Panthers! I have some German family from Cologne but Miami is my hometown, and a Panthers die hard here, so it's hard to root against this man, but great to be the back to back cup champions! Great video, thank you!
most of draisaitls goals come off plays created by other players
in my opinion after watching every edmonton oiler game for the past few years. Draisaitl is a lazy player.
The only time he hustles is when he has a chance to score.
Forget trying to win the puck.
He's overrated, and players like Connor Brown are underrated.
mcdavid is an all round player. Unfortunately GREAT players are great especially in the playoffs, and that INCLUDES the stanley cup finals. McDavid has crapped the bed in both finals (2024 and 2025)
also, im sick of commentators suckingoff Bouchard like hes the next bobby orr. Bouchard is a TERRIBLE defenseman.
McDavid made him a star you moron
Draisatil is better than McDavid for only 2 seasons while McDavid outperformed Draisaitl for countless other seasons. Draisaitl is very underrated but you can’t compare him to McDavid because he been dominant since his rookie season. McDavid was the fourth fastest player to reach 1 thousand points in history while it took Draisaitl a while to become a star. McDavid won 5 art Ross trophy’s 4 Ted Lindsay’s 3 hart trophy’s 1 con smythe trophy and 1 Marcie rocket Richard trophy which is way more superior to Draisaitls achievements. He won 1 hart trophy’s 1 Ted Lindsay 1 art Ross and 1 Marcie rocket Richard which is great but is nothing to McDavids stats and trophy’s. McDavid acually won a con smythe unlike Draisaitl. Draisaitl is a great player but you can’t say he is better than McDavid just like you can’t say Malkin is better than Crosby.
No he’s better than Mcdavid and he’s overshadowed by him!
I'm bummed that the narration on this channel is AI
History will tell how many of these players on the Oilers lineup will perform someday when they are traded away or McDavid leaves. I still think McDavid is the real element here, you could put him with a 3rd line from the AHL and he would still put up numbers.
“Edmonton vs San Jose” bud that’s Vegas 😂
Yeah he does, he literally doesn’t work for 90 percent of his goals. And he skates like James Neal
He got 0 power play time in game 6 of the SCF and did his best Casper the ghost impression 😂 zero coincidence, this power play merchant isn’t a star. He’s useless when BArkov is shutting him down 5on5
I dunno, this vid makes McDavid look overrated when he isn't. Clearly, Draisatil is a superstar top 5 player in the league and has been for several years and will likely be a hall of famer. But Mcdavid will go down as an all-time great when all is said and done. He's mentioned in the same breath as Gretzky and Lemieux, for god's sake. I love both players and they would thrive without each other on another team so I'm just happy they are on the same team.
Yes he was !!! And I really like your editorial
This really made me laugh.😂 Dissing McDavid for Draisaitl doesn't work.😂
These guys playing apart makes the OIlers better—– too bad the coaching staff cant see it. Draisatl is incredible & he brings it….
