SURFING & LIVE MUSIC WITH JACK JOHNSON IN BALI

We got Jack Johnson and Rob Machado in the house this week bringing us a very special live performance at the Uluwatu Surf Villas overlooking the iconic Uluwatu. Both being artists and surfers, it wouldn’t be a concert at Uluwatu without some surfing first. The waves were absolutely pumping too. Walk down the legendary staircase to Uluwatu with Jack and Rizal as they scope the waves. Jack scores some sick barrels and shreds while Rizal rips it to pieces and provides some immersive surfing POV with his GoPro. One of the biggest parts of surfing is waiting for waves in the lineup, during which good conversations often occur but are seldom documented. While Jack and Rizal wait for a set, Jack tells us about his songwriting process, touching on how “Rodeo Clowns” and “F-Stop Blues” came to be, also reminiscing about his first trip to Bali back in ’92. Shortly after Rob joins them and gives us a masterclass in style and flow. After the surf, it’s showtime! Emmett Malloy breaks down the night’s plan for us, telling us about the classic surf film, The September Sessions, that’s to be shown after the concert. Jack and Rob jam “F-Stop Blues” unplugged on the cliffside for us before they perform a sound check jam, and then the best concert ever. Special thanks to Jack, Rob and Uluwatu Surf Villas for an unforgettable night.

  1. Jani sing numpang di wifi tetangga / kantor desa, jani sube meli kuota jon…

Indomoment so good ya, yewwwww 🤙

  2. Beautiful reunion. It blows my mind how fast time flies. I remember buying September Session from the Quiksilver store International Marker Waikiki when it came out. I thought it was the raddest surf film ever. Make some September Sessions reunion merch, trucker hats, tees, tanks, stickers.

What was Rob riding? The new twinzer secret board? Or was that a chadocado? I’ve been on his Too Fish a year now (my one board quiver), just bought two more sizing down an inch on each one. So I have it in 3 sizes now. Has he ridden that in Indo I wonder? Thing is super fun to slide out into a small barrel dragging arm. Makes you feel like Buttons when you release the fins and get covered.

  3. When I share with people that Jack Johnson is as much of a great surfer as he is a musician, it doesn’t really register until I show them. They always stay dumbfounded. 🏄🏻‍♂️hank 🤙🏻ou

  4. “This year Halloween fell on the weekend “
Is that the Geto Boys sample I hear 😂

  5. Brah jack rips!! Videos of jack shredding are hard to come by so if I see the thumbnail and title with jack in it i press play right away, no thought about it. This video made me go back and watch the September sessions clip with f-stop blues in the background. Great clip. All time. We stayed at uluwatu surf villas back in 2015. One of the hobgood brothers was staying in the villa next by us. So cool. Cool to see a bunch of pros and familiar faces stay there often and we stayed there not knowing that. So awesome. I wanna i make it back there one day.

  6. Love the video. The AI enhanced vocals are a trip. Kind of sounds weird but I guess it works. Just noticed it.
