The Calgary Flames simply cannot afford to not trade Rasmus Andersson before the start of training camp. They have dealt with this sort of distraction before and saw how it panned out. Andersson has already had his say with the Flames media at the end of the season. Can the Calgary Flames and Craig Conroy make something happen before they are forced to take scraps? Does this mirror the Chris Tanev trade more than Noah Hanifin? Plus, what is the hold up with a Connor Zary extension? Is it term? Is it money? Certainly, cap space is not an issue. The Flames should do everything possible to make a bridge deal work. Zary’s injury history is likely a concern for the Flames. Maybe adding an extra zero to the AAV wouldn’t hurt as a negotiating factor. And who can the Flames trade to make space for the young kids? Could a Blake Coleman trade make sense? What about moving another bottom six forward like Adam Klapka or Martin Pospisil? Does moving a locker room guy like Ryan Lomberg seem like something the Flames would ever consider? Players like Aydar Suniev and Rory Kerins deserve a real shot at the roster. The Flames can certain afford to move on from Jake Bean and Braden Pachal. Let’s get a move on.
