  1. I think this is a good deal. Howard is a great prospect who will bring a bit of swagger to this team. I am surprised that the Oilers gave up Sam O’Reilly simply because they obviously liked him enough to trade into the first round of the draft to select him and he seems to be developing well. That being said, I do like this move for the Oilers because I feel Howard is that good

  2. Wow. I can't believe Tampa got O'Reilly. Everything points to Howard being worth it, though. t'll be interesting to see how he looks this coming season.

  3. I really liked O Reilly, perfect 3rd line center. Wish it was a first round pick and maybe like a 3rd instead but i really like howard

  4. Wow. I had heard that several teams had made offers for Howard and were turned down. This may turn out to be a bigger deal than I thought. Oilers potentially looking at a younger, skilled roster this coming season. We still have the Euros (Tomasek, Jonsson) to look at in preseason.

  5. Fast forward 5 years, Howard is washed, and O'Reilly is a solid 2C 😢 I dont like the move at all, though I understand they want players on ELC's for this season.

  6. Such a desperate move by the oilers. Trading for a guy that shouldn’t have won the hobey baker and ego issues by telling the team that drafted him to kick rocks. Edmonton sure got their guy lol

  7. He was also playing there as one of the older players in college hockey it’s different if a younger player dominates college hockey but when you’re in your draft +2 year like he was last year entering in his final season that he could play in college this year it’s not as impressive. There’s been a lot of players that have done very similar to him like Vessy kid is undersized I’m not saying he’s a bust. He was drafted in 2022, which was three drafts ago. If he wasn’t turning pro yet and Tampa, who was around him clearly knows how to build a championship winning team sees that this kid isn’t ready for professional hockey. You’re starting to sniff bust territory. He has to go to the AHL. He’s not an NHL ready and even if he is, we’ve seen how the Oilers don’t develop well and with a kid already struggling with development not a great fit for him.
