I had this idea during the playoffs, so here it is in video form. Yes, I will be making one of these for the West.

  1. Boston’s forwards are AHL quality. Lines 2,3,4 are sad. 2 goals a game will be hard to do. Sweeney should have already been fired.

  2. Canes haven't reached a Cup Final since 2006. The way Rod Brind 'Amour coaches his teams, they only get as far as the ECF.

No one is talking much about the Caps for a 2nd straight season because they think it was a fluke ending up 2nd overall and winning the Metro Division.

  3. I feel like this season you should just have 2 Stanley Cups icons on the board whenever you discuss Florida, in place of their name. May trigger a fan base or 2 but would make for a good time.

  4. I wonder if the Islanders don’t have a realistic chance to make the playoffs, will they move on from Barzal, Lee, JGP, Palmieri and other older players?

  5. I never understood what that Flyers logo is supposed to be. I like the orange and black though, because it is BC Lions colours.

  6. I think the breaking of the Core-Four and Tavares taking a pay-cut will pay dividends.

With the loss of both the Marner contract and the Tavares reduction, the Leafs went from four guys, making roughly 60% to two guys, making 25% in a cap increase year.

What does that mean? Money. Lots of money to add players through trades as other team's fortunes change.

The Leafs needed to add grit and heart, they also needed to change their DNA as the current phrase goes. They have and will do that.

Toronto can't replace Marner, but they don't need to.

Replacing Marner isn't a thing, but using the Moneyball system, all they have to do is increase physical play, add multiple 15-20 goal scorers, and they have a better D-corps than they did last regular season.

  7. I thought this was how it is now not last season. Teams have changed. So where are Leafs without Marner, Habs with their changes. Not helpful sorry

  8. Isles are shaking things up now. Years away but its coming. Like Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Carolina, Florida and New Jersey.

  9. Live Destin FL – do not see any panther Jerseys or T–shirts – it was the same for Tampa Bay a few years back. These teams would be considered (with good reason) dynasties if they were Canadian teams. Its seems like these teams fan base is only in their own zip code.

  10. I was just thinking about this the other day. Detroit was DETROIT once upon a time and you wanted to play for Detroit and it was this huge honor and playing for Detroit was so coveted. (You wouldn't think this as many years ago as living in the city is rundown, depressing, and dangerous. Robocop isn't kidding.) But, that was when you had Yzerman and Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Osgood, Holmstrom, Lindstrom, Fronzon,Draper, Kronwell, and you went to Helm, Howard, etc. The Detroit Red Wings 20 years ago were mind blowing still. But, when as much time has gone by and you just don't win, generations forget you and not all hockey fans live in the Murder Capital of the United States, they tend to avoid those places, but the State I grew up in never had a hockey team and doesn't have a hockey team but the sport is ever growing. You'd think it would be bigger, but not enough ponds to play on even though it's cold enough. BUT, football is still the reigning champ, which is pitiful because there's a lot of kids, I think would play hockey if it was available, but every school has a basketball court and baseball field, but the football field always comes first. (I hate football is so big in the States, I can see baseball and I'm good with that, but football is for mortals. It's a 13 game season and everything thinks that a football player is a titan, at least, but it's short seasons with, infamously overpaid athletes, as usual) so with States my mine, you either fall along with the closest team or you pick your team. I lived in Detroit for a little while and became a legitimate Wings fan then but I haven't lived there in so long, I'm back to choosing. At present, I should be a Stars fan and I pulled for them this playoffs year but, as much as I hate Minneapolis at this time, I would have liked to see the Wild win their first Stanley Cup, just as it was for Flordia last year.

Id like to see teams that haven't yet won a cup pull it off, especially now that Flordia has won a cup, it's time for someone else. They got their Cup, okay. Columbus is up. No Cup, devoted fans, would like to see them come up, but if comes to Toronto Ottowa, o Winnipeg in the Finals, then it's American vs Canada and America better keep the Cup in the U.S.

I don't think Florida will do it this year and you'll see Florida disband next year though and those whom have signed long term deals will regret it and you won't see players sign as long of deals. I wouldn't plan or bet on Florida next year.

But, yeah, to my point, sorry, those big five or original five just aren't what they used to be. Will Bettman open the league way up? Hopefully, and perhaps we'll see EA fall out and 2K and San Diego Studio up for making hockey games again.

Would be cool to see cities building hockey rinks for roller hockey (I still call it street hockey even though street hockey is on foot)

  11. Habs fan here we need a second line center for Demidov and maybe another winger before thinking of playoff time for us yes the D core is maybe one of the best in the league with DOBSON at the blue line but we need two more top six fowards that a must.

  12. The Flyers will be making it out of the bottom tier, mark my words! They have had the WORST luck – Nolan Patrick and his concussions, Gauthier deciding not to play here, Hart getting accused of sexual assault, etc. But Danny B is slowly turning the ship around! Give us league average goaltending and a power play that doesn’t rank 30th-32nd in the league for the last FOUR seasons (how Rocky Thompson retained his job is beyond me!), and I think we can push for a playoff spot this season.

  13. Less great goalies – lots of equal teams – but if you don’t have a top notch stellar goalie you end up in lower half of the league – goalie changes it –

  14. Depth is vital too / TB success was and has a lot to do with trusting in house — these days if you hit rock bottom to rebuild you almost never get back up like you said – so you need to transition to future slowly keep same coach and program awhile and be very competitive mid team whim rebuilding

  15. TB was in Stanley Cup Final also in 2022 – so been steady even when not dominant – 2004 was ages ago sure but in modern era they won cup 2020, and 2021, and also played in two additional Stanley Cup Finals in 2015 and 2022.- knocked out early a few times but consistently competitive no rebuild disasters despite losing some key players – considering future – we are shocked here too – but you can see how balanced the league can be – no Vaz and we are not sustaining at top I believe and it is same for Panthers – sure they are strong but without great goalie you just can’t push over no matter the depth and strength – all of it needs to be in place and peak right time heading into playoffs – NJ too is a solid solid team but needs a star goalie – any NJ success came with Brodeur – the value of goalies can be underestimated ever –

  16. I don't get your ranking in the end, but I don't mind it, it seems like you weigh all of the last 4 seasons, which is why I guess Montreal would be that low!

With that said, don't be surprised if Montreal takes the third spot of the Atlantic this year ;p

  17. Remember this, teams who win cups, then re-sign everybody, tend to fail fast. After the Penguins won back to back, out came the extensions for Malkin, Letang, and many orhers. And what did it get them? No more trips to the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Panthers are a much older team, than Carolina. The Hurricanes are built to last for many seasons to come. Florida will start detiorating and fade away, just like the Lightning.
